What are the dimensions of the tank?

Hard to reach, lights and temp issues, HOB, no space for skimmer etc. Not worth the trouble IMO.

Can you share what's going on in the IOS, and what is that grey thing next to your light?

Will be going to phuket next week. Wondering if there are any LFS there to go take a look. Heard of the marine farm but its more of a culturing trade than LFS. Any one been there and know the place?

Return pipe? Or do you mean the pipe that goes down to the tank? Yes it has happened to other reefers that I know of, a single turbo snail lodged nicely to the opening of the pipe.

Scrap your 4ft FW tank and convert it to marine. Problem solved.

Bro Nitro, thanks for sharing on the marine diversity in our local waters. But I think its better to leave out the specific areas or parts of SG that you've seen them because there will be people who will collect them for their own interests.

Have not used crystal glass before but IMO glass is just glass. You can have crystal or starfire glass but if your glass is full of algae and dirt attached then it defeats the purpose. Just keep your glass clean.

Great thing about shallow tanks is that it gives you a good top view of the tank. Therefore lights should be those hang on or clip on type so as not to obstruct your view. Also don't forget to accommodate space between the water level and tank brim. In my case I miscalculated and the gap is only 5mm! But it looks nice without the obvious waterline I must say.

It seems like this thread has skewed off tangent. What was intended to be a TOTQ discussion became an inter forum debate. I believe Larry has said his piece and all we can do now is to wait till the next TOTQ. As the thread starter, I invite the mods to close this thread.

Many reefers claim to have shallow tanks but IMO shallow tanks should be set at 1ft and below. 1.5ft would be the right height if you're looking for something not too deep.

Any pics? I'm using the clamp version and I love it!
