Very nice bro. I like the way the digi is growing on the glass.
-
Not sure as I've never tried before. I shall be the guniea pig then.

Decided to put this coral under ICU treatment to speed up the recovery Not sure if it will work though.

Hi bro, nice to see your tank progressing on.
-
Dont think I'm allowed to say where or else I might be labelled as the next 'lobang king' haha. Do some homework and you'll find that you can get equipment at much cheaper prices.

Playing around with my new found interest T5 lighting and got a nasty shock - couldnt see this in my PAR38 lighting. Picture above shows parts of the coral with insufficient lighting - common symptom with leds. Hope it can recover with the T5s.

Thanks for the comment, my tank is simple and nothing compared to others.

Got a set of T5 lights. I still find that T5 is still the way to go for sps. Currently running on both LED PAR38 and T5 for now. Shall see if the sps colours pop.. also have to be careful not to less them bleach as my tank is really shallow.

Small update. Did some equipment upgrade. Jebao RW4 - bought it new for less than $50. Quite amazed by its performance!

(SPS Tank) What other water para did you test?
Firestarter replied to asg's topic in SPS and Advanced Reefkeepers Forum
Drop by and we can exchange pointers on tank setup and keeping SPS. I too have lots more to learn from others as well. -
(SPS Tank) What other water para did you test?

One thing that I've learnt about dosing. I used to chase numbers and in the process, it cause more parameter fluctuations instead. Lost quite a few SPS due to that, and somehow I've came to the conclusion that as long as your SPS are doing fine, it doesn't matter if your parameters are off (could even be faulty test kit - but actual fact your parameters are ok) Last time I checked, my kh was 13, cal 260, but as long as visually my SPS are not STN/RTN, I'm not worried at all. (Although I noticed little or no growth - expected due to low cal) I've not tested NO3 or PO4 either and I don't plan to. Everyday I flood my tank with food and dose amino acids heavily and my SPS have never been more colourful. I'm dosing 2 parts, cal and kh, fixed amount each day. For trace elements I'm dosing Grotech ABCM. Few drops of all 4 bottles daily with 1hr interval each bottle. Every tank is different though, just sharing my experience. -

I only test kh and cal once in a blue moon. -
Haha your lights maybe too bright use some paper masking tape to shade the white bulbs. You can check out my tank in the members forum. Think its about time to update also haha.

Sorry for the tabling acro, it looked like a nice piece. For small tanks, do not need to chase magical numbers. As long as your corals are doing fine and not showing signs of STN/RTN, you shouldn't worry much about readings. In fact, constantly trying to adjust to perfect readings is the same as tinkering and leading to higher chance of fluctuations.

How to control yourself from buying fish

Decom. -
My experience with nano/pico tanks is that the more you tinker or add stuff like equipment, GFO etc, the harder it is to keep your water parameters stable. Your weekly wc is already enough. If you reduce too much nutrients your sps will starve out also. Just sharing my experience. Btw, are you dosing 2 part daily?

Frozen food - thaw or straight dump in?
Firestarter replied to ydolphin's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
I read somewhere before that soaking the food in water will lose its vitamins and nutrients so basically you're feeding solid food without any nutritional value. -

Place the frozen cube on a piece of paper towel and let it absorb all the water in as it melts. -
Skimmer? Does it come with sponge at the output? if I were you I would skip the skimmer with more WC instead.

Ok thought you would have just restarted but seems like you downsized the tank as well. For your current tank I think 1 par38 is enough but it determines on the lens degree that you're using. 2 par 38 with 90 deg lens should be more than enough.

Nice pico, what happened to the previous setup?
