  1. Tap water is the issue here bro. For a start, you can try topping up with distilled water. Otherwise, there is another method whereby you run your tap water with DI resins to remove silicates and reduce your TDS.
  2. More than 10 years into the hobby, I thought I'd seen it all. Came back to office and saw THIS on my monti. No its not a giant pod... its a baby cockroach LOL. What a way to start a Monday.
  3. I second this. Cal and Mg contributes to coraline algae growth. Get a test kit and test your levels.
  4. That's not what he meant. The tank and stand looks like a freshwater tank to me.
  5. Candy cane coral is known to be the easiest LPS. Does not require any special care.
  6. Anyone seen this being sold at neighbourhood hardware shops? Daiso seems to have no stock.
  7. A small update. Jade green digitata has shown some signs of improvement. Pic here shows the polyps of it getting darker day by day. Was totally white previously.
  8. You can try the shell fish method. Buy some raw 'lala' and try feeding them with it.
  9. Went IMM daiso last week but couldn't find any. One thing about this blaster, is that over time the sides of the plastic will crack from frequent usage. Better to get more, for me I use superglue to seal the cracks for the meantime.
  10. Not much to update so far. The bleached SPS still remain bleached, only improvements noted were that the polyps of the jade green digitata have turned darker. I plan to increase feeding of dried baby plankton to a daily basis as I read that ammonia and nitrates don't affect bleached SPS. In fact, they require the nutrients to regain the zoox algae.
  11. I would like to know if I can connect a par38 bulb with a normal AC light dimmer such as those from ikea, so I can dim the par38. Would this work? Thanks.
  12. For evo lightset, you can change the bulbs by prying the existing bulb with a screwdriver. The bulb is glued tight and will require some effort to remove. The bulb will be spoilt after you pry it out. A little soldering is needed to fix the new bulb. Hope it helps.
  13. Any closer pics of the mushroom? Looks more like a rhodactis to me.
  14. Click on the "More reply options" button and upload the pics via attachments.
  15. Jade green and pink salmon remains the same white state(sigh) Noticed more PE on the jade green though.
  16. Brown acro has regained colour after blasting it under the lights in my other tank. A comparison: Before ("V" shaped piece at center right) After (blasting under direct light)
  17. Red monti started receeding
  18. Time for some updates. Some good and some bad changes to the corals. Green monti has regained it colour. Pink milli has started to colour up from brown to green Unknown monti has recovered and covering the dead spots
  19. Guys, thanks for the advise. I highly suspect the high KH is due to white slime breakout in my tank. I've given up on trying to bring the KH down, as long as it does not exceed 13dKH I guess.
  20. Can anyone provide the exact alibaba link to order? I am looking for the full spectrum too but can only find the normal whites/blue.
  21. NTUC sells distilled water. Just remember to buy ONLY distilled and not mineral water.
  22. I've stopped dosing vinegar 3 months ago since the white slime outbreak.
  23. Read that feeding amino acids might help the corals to feed and get their zooxantellae back. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  24. 4 reasons that I suspect that caused the SPS to be in such state: 1. Too much light 2. Too little nutrients in water 3. White slime outbreak (due to vinegar dosing & home plug in air freshener) 4. High kH of 13dKH (kH raised on its own without dosing - suspected caused by white slime) Any SPS experts can provide any advices on how I can help to make the frags recover, other than turning down the lights?
  25. Couple more pics. Jade green digitata.. thought it was dead but this morning saw some polyps... its totally white. Grew out from a single branch till this. Really sad to see it in this state. Background shows a faded out green monti. Unknown digitata came as a hitchhiker with 3 polyps and grew to cover the whole rock. Now its starting to die... hope it recovers.
