  1. Innovative but unpractical. If you're not careful enough, a medium push to the tank base and the tank will collapse.
  2. Quote from tank owner: Thanks for the reply my friends, I really add real milk and honey, and the NO3 & PO4 values are always around 20~50(before) & 0.05(usually) i add milk 10cc per day, I stop adding honey about 3 months, because I want to examine the effect of the milk the milk can help coral growth fast including sps and lps, The original purpose I add milk is increase the fatty acid for the tank to avoid sps skin peeling, compared to add the commercial products, is heterogeneous, often incongruous mixture of elements, i prefer to add milk, but i add milk after alga disappear, and sps become the major creature, or there will bring the disaster <--- not really sure what this sentence means By the way, the NO3 values is about 0.5~5 after start adding honey, if you want to know more information, please let me know, thks! So what do you guys think? He did not elaborate what type of milk he uses though. Any chemist here that can shed more light into this? Finally, anyone dare to be the first guinea pig? Lol
  3. Came across this thread in RC where this guy in Taiwan is dosing honey and milk to his tank and his SPS colours are popping! Check out his thread here and let me know what you think.. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2204097&page=6
  4. Lights are too weak. That could be why the torch is dying.
  5. The threadstarter used to be a staff from the Singapore Zoo. Maybe you can contact the zoo for more info on taxidermy services.
  6. Dude. You dug up a 11 year old thread just for this? Have you tried the green book? http://www.thegreenbook.com/
  7. I believe there's a non-photosynthetic reef forum for a reason.
  8. So the guy who bought was the guy who upped?
  9. Get a nano wavemaker for nano tanks.
  10. Whats the difference with or without IOS at the side? The partition is just a wall. The LR doesn't hide any protruding overflow chambers. Care to share your opinion??
  11. Bombom your tank is coming on nicely. If you don't plan to put in the anemone island, how about shifting the LR to the center? That will make it look nicer IMO.
  12. Also guys, its mantis shrimp not mantis prawn.. its like saying bullcrap instead of bull$hit. It just sounds funny Lol.
  13. Any updates from threadstarter? I'm putting my bet on uncleaned tank from previous setup causing the salt to become like that.
  14. Try this method. It works most of the time. Go to NTUC frozen seafood section and buy the La La (preferably with shell). The trick is to tie the lala with a piece of string and hand it to the side of the tank, like how you place your veggie clips. Butterflies love them.
  15. Its really hard to trap a mantis shrimp. The best way to remove it is to find out which LR its hiding in and remove the LR with it inside.
  16. Not true. If the clownfish is weak, it will lose the protective coating that prevents the anemone stings from hurting it. Please do not give incorrect advice.
  17. I believe the reason for the murky water is either: 1. you did not aerate the salt mix 2. the tank was not totally clean before you mixed the salt (residue from decom setup?) 3. the salt is contaminated I am using Red Sea salt and so far it is fast to dissolve and the only time I experience any chalkiness is when the salt has not fully dissolved.
  18. Something to do with the pressure (atmospheric?) I guess. I also read that normal air tubes are not wide enough for the air pressure to flow into the bottle, so no air goes in, no water comes out = stuck.
  19. Didn't think about that back then .. but that was during a heavy thunderstorm so I didn't think it mattered.
  20. If your tank is near a window you can siphon out your dirty water out the window on rainy days. I did that a couple of times before.
  21. I don't have much success with gravity top up cause sometimes the water doesn't flow and gets stuck...I use the drip method instead.
  22. Any links to the first tank pic? Wanna go take a look at that tank thtead.
  23. Haha not making fun at all. You are one of the few pioneers left around. Of course you can continue to give noob advise. I'm also a noob too.
