  1. If you are running a sump you can siphon the water into your sump filter wool or sock. That way you can still save on water.
  2. Some reefers in RC use kalk and 2 part dosing. They max out the daily maximum effectiveness of kalk (based on daily evaporation )then top it off with 2 parts. you may want to read up on kalk dosing with 2 parts. hope it helps.
  3. BB are usually for systems with high flow. It works hand in hand with strong wavemakers pointed at dead spots or tank bottom to blow the dirt and detrius into the water column which will be sucked into the overflow. Of course this does not work with setups with sand previously. The leftover sand grains and particles need to be siphoned out manually if the flow is not strong to blow it into the water column.
  4. Pipe method works the best. Don't even need to put your hands in the tank.
  5. No more milli when I was there. But got some leftover sps for a good price.
  6. Sorry for not being more specific. Polyart is open 24 hours. Polyart sells salt. You can mix salt with water to make saltwater.
  7. Stop using unfiltered tapwater and that will solve your problem.
  8. There seems to be a misconception amongst reefers that mangroves are good in exporting nutrients. You will need about 20+ mangrove shoots to see some very little significant decrease to your nutrient levels. So unless you are willing to have a tank full of mangroves for nutrient export, you're wasting your time with mangroves. You are better off using cheato instead. And mangroves are really easy to obtain from the beach. Here is a thread that I've started years back on a mangrove experiment. I was able to make it grow with just raw TAPWATER. How much nutrients do you think it exported?
  9. I noticed that the 'U shape' of your DIY overflow is inside the tank. It is taking up space. Do a search for DIY overflow pipe and you will see how it is run optimally.
  10. I was not specific... I meant how many degrees lens you're using?
  11. You using chiller or aircon to cool the tank? 22'c is kinda low.
  12. What lens are you using jackie?
  13. Megacue has decommed, youdontknowme has stopped, left kkk121......
  14. Dude, you're not the threadstarter, why kei kiang go up? Don't want to bid then don't post. Don't blame moderators / hacking etc. Please honour your bid.
  15. This link might be useful. http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-02/bp/index.php Else I'm sure there are many isopod threads previously discussed here in this forum if you bother to do a aearch.
  16. Thought you claimed you're 'not a newbie' but don't know what an isopod is? Google is your friend this school holidays, pal.
  17. Different strains of dino have different ways of eradicating. The most common and easiest strain is the one that will be eradicated with raising pH level and magnesium. I once had a dino attack that no matter what I did, it came twice as hard. I eventually found out that the more water changes I made the more it was feeding on the new nutrients from the wc and thus helped to fuel it. So I stopped all wc and waited it out, and one day the dino went away as fast as it came. Just to ask, do you notice and increase growth after doing wc?
