I started this thread to have a feel of how generally people respond to usage of activated carbon. Well I guess there is no best of both world. Jacky suggestion is a very good one but I guess people will alway strive for something that is hassle free and of course taking cost into consideration. I guess activated carbon would be a very good media if all the uncertainy can be address as the cost is relatively affordable.

i do agree with Jacky view. it not an expensive product to use. but it seem like a double edge sword. As Kanegan mention, it take out both good and bad 'impurities' in the tank. certainly people alway wants to keep the good. and some believe that when the activated carbon is exhaust, it leed back all the pollutant. sometime i guess it may be more damaging to introduce a product like this into the tank rather than good. so i thought came up with this question to seek out view from fellow reefer.

reefer who bought the biopellet care to share their experience on the product effiency in reducing nitrate and phosphate? i guess some reefer experience poor or no reduction in nitrate and phosphate probably due to the contaminate pack they got.

any tips to nurse open brain back to good healthy? currently have 1 not opening up and doesnt extend any tentacles.

after checking, realise that using tap water i am getting pH of 8.9 also. can it be the batch of salt mix? i am using tropic marine. realise that this box have alot of sediment in the salt which cannot be dissolved.

i was still trying to recall what pH i got previous using salt mix with tap water. i guess it around 8.4 since i didnt do any adjustment. i will go do a quick test using tap water with salt to see what i get.

water before DI was 7 after DI become 5. so having a lower pH after mix salt shouldnt it be lower. i using powerhead to circulate the water. not using airstone to aerate it.

this is the reading after overnight. as i know that it is alway recommend to prepare salt mix overnight. i measure yesterday, and found that it 8.9. so thought today will be lower. just measure. still giving 8.9

just bought the crystal pro filter, use that for my salt mix. and i found out that it give a higher pH compare to using tap water. tank pH is 8.4. using salt mix with DI water is 8.9 can anyone help?
