no lah... didn't blame you... i selected something that is not a popular coral (some find it useless)... but i like it for it's colours and not everyone has it. Will show pix once it settles down. initially wanted to get another true octo to 'try'... but thought i'll wait awhile more.... -

All thanks to you... i went GO earlier... and spent some $$$! but everything seems quite ex this time round... -
Am thinking of keeping other stuff, something more colourful. if u want, u can try to breed them. (but i suspect these 2 are gay). haha.

If there's only 1 place that you can go during lunch time today... Where would you go??? -
the 2 i had are mini size... less than 1"... Now i'm trying to catch the other one... will sell/give them away when i managed to catch!

Adequate calcium = coralline growth?
wilsontantw replied to tiffanydunk's topic in General Reefkeeping_
dude, you could be right! i commented based on my personal experience... coz mine used to have high PO4, coraline growth is slow (virtually none). maybe it's my Kh. Coz the rest of the parameters (Ca, Mg) are quite stable, yet my coraline is not growing. I guess the layer of detritus gathering on my LR is hindering too, you think? -
i used to have a net that can keep baby fish, it's those look like fish net, it has 4-poles to create a trap... but i cleared it recently. i trying to find time during lunch to do some walk-about, see if i can find something useful for you. let u know later. btw: spotted cardinals i managed to catch one (it's in a trap now)... the other is swimming in main tank (still trying to catch it, but this one is SMART!)

Nano Reef inspired from www.nano-reef.com
wilsontantw replied to TayHongSiang's topic in Members Tank & Specs
Wah... Siang, you collecting blue mushies ah??? so many of them. (too many liao... you should try to clear some and put into my tank)... haha. can PM where you got them and $$$? u got some really nice LPS, love the orchid brain... very colour and big piece. Consider trading (or give away) your huge clown for a pair of small true perc, think it'll create more space. nice nano. -
wah... the sponsor is the one who lets u use her ATM/credit card when you buy corals ah...
-
WOW! Cool!!! Congrats dude! i have a pair of spotted cardinals, but i think they are either gays or use very effective contraceptive... coz never pregnant! u can share this good news with ur 'sponsor'...

PO4 needs to be controlled, else you'll see no coralline. -
POWER SCAPING!!! looking forward to more pixxxx
-
not sure if the nano is good enuff for his 3 footer. i'm using it for my 200l (2.5x2x2), it seems just sufficient... or maybe can be better i feel.
-
Congratulations bro!!!! well done! eh, there's nothing too turbulent! when you have all those long tentacles stuff (hammer, torch etc), it will look very nice to watch them sway left/right). but it's quite costly lah... the other alternative (even more ex!) tunze wavebox.
-
i agree! equipment is for lazy people...
-
steady lah... i'll be changing mine tonight... strangely, after the rescape.. i notice a lot more detritus going into my sump tank... (guess its a good sign, as they're not in main tank). also means i have to work harder to ensure nothing returns to main tank... (FR running Sorb4 full time now + algae scrubber working hard).

Use a 1.5l plastic bottle (fill with distilled water please...) - drill a small hole at the top (at the cap) and side (near the bottom) of the bottle. Top hole is for removal of air pressure build up when water level goes down. Bottom hole is for the water to be 'dripped' drop by drop in your main tank. (of coz you need to use a control valve to control how much water to go in). Slowly let it drip (you use use a air tubing to channel the water into your tank and put the water bottle somewhere higher) How fast the drip, depends on your daily evaporation rate. (by calculating the water volume - lxbxh of the drop in water level) HTH.
-
haha... eh, do what i do... RESCAPE! but yours will be a big big problem... have you changed the wool?? please do that soon... and while doing it, try to ensure the dirt doesn't fall into the sump.
-
The only way is to manually circulate lor... but i'm working... how to do it? besides, my family members only appreciate the tank, they dunno how to maintain (not even feeding). There's definitely nothing stuck inside, coz i wash the pump almost once a month. and i remove everything... including impeller. Maybe i should just get a new pump... any recommendations anyone? The good news is, the power shutdown is NOT happening liao! not sure if i got the wrong date or they managed to find a work-around... let's hope this doesn't happen... it's time like this that an aquatronica is sooooooo crucial!
-
glad u like it... when you're free, u can come over and take a look. I have a BIG problem tomorrow! Some bloody **** is shutting down my entire block's power supply for 45 mins!!! And i mean TOTAL SHUT DOWN! And the timing is some odd ball 1.45 to 2.30! Damn, these bobos, dunno how to do it during lunch time! So i can rush back and stir the water... Now just hope and pray for me... And another fear is that recently my AB5000 has some weird problem.... it cannot restart $after i switch off the power and power on again. The only way to get it to start is to remove it from tank, pour cold water, then it can start. Very strange... Does anyone knows why??? Or issit time to change return pump?? Dunno if it's an impeller problem too.
-
none. you mean that ugly brown colour looking thing?? if i remember correctly, it used to be a rock with mushies when i bought it, but the mushies has since been blown off, and the zoas (hitch hikers) are now taking over the rock. (this is a very heavy piece, it's shaped like an egg)
-
Coz i plan to spend more time to enjoy the tank rather than to 'maintain it'... Some computer based maintenance could be on the way also. (am reading up on some options now). Besides, not just SPS needs calcium and magnesium right?
-
cannot keep stocking up my friend... must also take care of their sustenance... (i'm saving up for a decent CR now). else, it's just a matter of time.......
