  1. Seems like u like impossible stuff. see nothing is impossible... Anyway, have fun in shanghai. Is anyone monitoring ur tank while u r away? 6 weeks. That's a long long time.
  2. Yeah.. Nice to know you are upgrading! Wish I can do that too. All the best!
  3. I'm free from 2pm onwards and almost whole of sunday. Doubt I'll be going LFS though (can't buy anything, so better not go)... I have not experienced chaeto dying on me so far. I suspect it could be due to: 1) lack of light? 2) lack of nutrient? 3) lack of flow? Not sure about chemicals, cos I dose the standard calcium/magnesium/kh supplement. Let me know when u wanna pop by k... Cheers
  4. Luke. I can always spare some for you. Let me know. Still have my number?
  5. Good Stuff. You are definitely achieving ur target of making them grow! Though no test kits are a little risky.. But regular w/c should do the trick. *thumbs up* Btw u mentioned about feeding them well, what do you feed the SPS with?
  6. Nice BN growth for skimmerless setup with led. Your manual dosing regime is rewarding u. How long is this setup? The light seem a little insufficient, BN colour seems brown (could be photo colour)..
  7. This sounds like ur tank dimensions yeah bro? Hehe. But agree, that's a good tank size! Not just good for main tank display and coral placements, the spacious area allows for good storage of equipment below... Thanks Cedric for the super healthy BN! Upz!

  10. Interesting! If it's a computer a few things are missing, let's see how to map them back? 1) operating system = water parameters 2) keyboard/mouse = dosing pump or CR? Friday is finally here!!!
  11. Beautiful SPS! Upz for you bro! Too bad I have to stop buying for the moment.
  12. Oh yes, how many fish do u currently have in your setup? It's about 3-4 weeks after cycling right?
  13. Just for curiosity sake, would you like to try measure nitrate and phosphate of ur salt mix before water change? I'm keen to find out if it makes any difference. If there's no difference, I'll not buy any more resins! These are expensive.
  14. Am considering giving up the hobby for another love...

  15. And for the main tank... Side tank shot: 31 Dec 2010 Late Jan 2011 20 Feb 2011
  16. Not much updates for the past month... decided to post some progress for the past 3 months.. Holding Tank (started in late Nov or early Dec 2010 - can't really remember the exact date) here're some progress pix (scaping still very messy) Early Dec 2010 27 Dec 2010 31 Dec 2010 late Jan 2011 20 Feb 2011
  17. Can you share these: 1) What water/salt mix do u use for w/c? 2) How many fish do u have? Heavy feeding? Like twice a day? 3) Is your skimmer doing a good job and do u regularly wash the collection cup/neck? Generic answers without knowing above will be: Use AZ-NO3 as a quick-fix solution. But I would suggest you find the root cause of what's causing this constantly high nitrate. 100ppm errrr.. You can try to use other nutrient exporter such as chaeto/macro algae.. Using algae turf scrubber could help too. Usually regular water change should bring nitrate and phosphate down. Unless the water you use already has nitrate. Hope this helps.
  18. Oooorrrrhhhhhh!!!!! I vaguely remember that there's a Aunty Lucy (NTUC) in the said shopping mall.
  19. Errr in case anyone feels offended by my post. I am purely stating my personal opinion and NOT targeting at any specific comments by anyone. In fact I have not read all the posts in the thread. *decided to edit my post for sensitivity reasons*
  20. Brudder YK, fact is we have been "taught" to ask for answers. Not research for knowledge. (I was from The System too). Let the shop owner peddle his wares. We do what we do, and let him be. If fact if I am so serious, I'll rent a cart next to him and educate the public about marine keeping. See whether the public listens... But of cos, I'm just your regular reefer with no such ambitions.
  21. Keep the debate coming in and emotions out. This way, the information presented will be unbias and it makes reading the forum more pleasurable. I personally feel this is an open economy. Everyone is free to sell anything that's within the law. Law (the government, not bro Law ah) doesn't say cannot sell IQ5 with Tangs, then it is legal business. No one can close them down. But what we can do, is stop patronizing them. Over time, demand will determine it's success. Or the lack of demand, will spell it's demise. In fact what we should do, is to share why IQ5 shouldn't keep Tangs. And not targeting at the shop owner... He is running a legal business and not a charity/save-our-ocean society. Any self-proclaim activist/group, who feels so strongly against it, can speak to the owner if it's within their charter/ beliefs. Well you guys know where to find the cart. The forum's objective should be to educate each other, giving members the power of knowledge to decide themselves. He who doesn't know, is his own fault for not knowing enough before buying.. But the next time, he learns.. In retrospect, if we know a fish is rare and hard to keep (irrespective of tank size) yet we buy it, are we not equally "wrong"? In fact "more wrong" because we did it knowingly!?! Bro lemon, I admire your knowledge in fish and all, keep the sharing coming... As I always say to you, I'm always learning from you. This is my opinion. If it means anything at all.
  22. Opps. Accidently sent without completing.
  23. Nice fang blenny. Yup. They are nice indeed! But beware of their bites (if they do) read that it's toxic.
  24. Hmm. I believe using NSW is like taking a gamble everytime do wc. Hope no major issues with the water. But if it has, usually can't tell until it's too late. Using salt mix, as shared by various bro, ensures you operate in a more "controlled" environment. Though it's more expensive (di unit, resin, carbon, salt, pump... Blah blah blah), I think I wanna have peace of mind. No worth taking this risk.
