  1. Now this is what we call colony!!! Super. Showpiece!
  2. Uncle mike, this "title", I have to decline with appreciation. Not being humble, but I'm still junior in SPS (barely past 1 yr). So until most of my corals bloom and thrive, I'm still a student, learning from the shi fu and sharing whatever Ive learnt and experienced. And err, the pix may seemed big, but the colony is actually very small. Unlike the mega colony you have!
  3. Jeremy: you managed to deep dive and found this almost decade-old thread?!? Wow!
  4. Thanks 师父! Appreciate the commendation. Wish I had used a tripod actually, when zoomed in, the details are lost. Thanks ignatius for the support! Good stuff only these few le. All from fellow reefers or 师夫. Btw, good luck at the photo contest! Looks like u stand a very real chance of winning! "plus" for u too bro.
  5. Yo Leslie, glad u like the TFO... Kept this for a few months and it has had steady growth (just sold off a mini colony and gave some frags to my bro-in-law to try). Seeing its now stable, took a pic to share. The zoas is actually bought from jack's decomm sale. Super nice! Stable too, also started to grow new polyps.
  6. Faster than the digi actually. But they are temperamental, and susceptible to algae growth at the base. Give them strong lights with moderate flow, the rewards will come..
  7. hmm... put ur foot down and do it! Actually ah hwee has a tank size similar to what you wanted. His sump design is simple yet very effective. I've seen it personally. HTH.
  8. Cute! True to the title: Nano Fanatic! any intention of SPS??
  9. thanks jacky! i've kept some easy frags for you hor... i know distance is an issue... whenever u free!
  10. Last post for tonight. Digitata - salmon pink Close-up Hope all marine buddies will slowly grow to love SPS ... Cheers!
  11. Yellow-round tip BN with orange body. Close-up This frag (single stem with multiple branches) has grown new tips since i last posted for sale 2 weeks back. Still available at the same price of $25 (despite the new growth) PM if you like to own it.
  12. New Bi-colour BN - bought it in bad condition (totally bleached out) - seems like recovering now - after 3 weeks. Close-up
  13. True fibre optic - i'm absolutely in love with this. This is something that is rarely available in LFS and shipment. Main colony. (KY - if you read this... this is my bait for you. Restart, and a frag is yours!) Close Up If you like the pics, please feel free to give me a 'plus'... it'll be greatly appreciated.
  14. Photo log updates for 24th August 2011... Title: The Selections. Hope you like the pics... Black Crocea with gold spots, blue/green rim. Power Zoas Not sure if these are common, but took some effort to lay my hands on them s.l.o.w. growers *in my tank* compared to the other zoas/palys...
  15. I need some changes in life! Status quo is boring me!

      yup agree. upgrade !

  16. Good effort for sharing. I agree with some points.. E.g. Using a refractometer. But I cannot agree with everything, such as the great debate of NSW vs SALTMIX. You know, the saying "A picture speaks a thousand words". How about sharing some setup pictures with macro coral shots? Maybe some coral growth/progress shots over the weeks/months/years. I'm sure the pictorial sharing, besides the heavy reading, will be helpful to all beginners. Cheers!
  17. Wow. Impressive scape. Care to share on how you achieved the scaping? Dosing is slowly gaining popularity here due to it's ease of control and adjustments. In the first week of dosing, take a measurement everyday at the same time of the day. Assume you start from 420,8.2,1200 (ca,kh,Mg) your daily measurement should not deviate if your dosing volume is correct. So based on your tank's consumption adjust upwards/downwards accordingly. Always start on the lower end, I started with 120ml per day and it's now averaging 220ml/day. (partly becos I added another tank). Concentration of the solution plays a big part so try to ensure you use the same ratio of powder/water each time you top up the containers. I use 25litres containers and refill about 5-6months. This will vary depending on the concentration of the solution and intake (# of corals and clams).. Only stabilized, do weekly measurement for the first 3 months. Subsequently you can do monthly checks if you didn't add any new corals. If you do, weekly checks (kh and ca) is strongly recommended. I've been using dosing for over 1 year, results are quite good. Hope this helps and keep the video/photos coming!
  18. Super tank! Next gathering should go your place.
  19. Muahahaha Mutton roti king! Yes, Cedric has a dream! That was joke of the day! Thanks to Cedric for hosting the bunch of crazy folks!
  20. You 3 feet complain small!?! Then ours leh?? Did u guys go home with new additions?
  21. Bro Gary, let us know if u need advice or help in ur setup yeah. Remember, more haste, less speed. Patience is the key. Amazing, didn't realized we took so long before we finally put a face to the name. Hope you enjoy the company. Pity I had to leave first. Next time if u guys go just gimme a text, I'm just 2mins drive away from the A. Clinic. Oh thanks for your nice supper! Very sumptuous. Once I download the pix, will post them here. Btw: Jacky left earlier cos his wife wasn't feeling well. Hope all is good back home.
  22. Hmmm. Ok. I'll try to trade for an earlier off pass. Hopefully can approve.
  23. Dear Kelvin. Fish dying is part and parcel of reefing. Even the experts/experienced suffer casualty. Quite a tall order for beginner/new setup to keep powder series.. To give up now, would mean you will never return to this hobby. However, if you can learn from this unfortunate episode and turn things around, then it'll be an achievement. In order to help you succeed, why not start by posting your tank thread, parameters, specifications, full equipment, maintenance regime and possibly what livestocks you want in future... Pictures of ur setup would be helpful... In the mean time, keep your head up! Read and learn more, you will realize that it's really not that difficult. TGIF!
