  1. hehe... bro, r u into R/C too? fast and furious indeed... crashed it a few times liao... And i thought it's child's play... i think if u like Fast & Furious, you'll surely like this hobby. (and it's more affordable compared to reefing). i bought mine from the shop at ECP near Macs. Most of the guys i'm playing with bought from the same shop. Price range- i think basic (expert built) + battery + charger, should set you back about $400+/-. However, it's common to spend $1k or so for a decent car.
  2. haha... you just reminded me that i've not decided whether i should get a canon D50 or D450. I supposed you're a Nikon guy? Wah, u must be quite a photographer hor... u must teach me when i get a DSLR k? i really dunno how to use sia... just thought i should get a good camera for the sake of taking good pix of my newborn. my wife tells me i should just find 1 hobby and stay there!... dun be too fickle! And i actually into ICE too. (my car boot has no spare tyre). that one... tsk tsk tsk... REALLY amazing. I dun even realised how much i spent... and honestly, i dun wanna count liao.
  3. wah! nice... rics and yumas... all ex stuff wor! Hmm... which reminds me... i dun have a single ric in my tank!!!!
  4. eh, you quite good ah... this is exactly a 1/10 scale. Model TT-01 - Type E Chasis. (So called Expert Build, coz it's pre-assembled... i totally dunno how to assemble it myself) Friend, I am overgrown small boy leh! childhood deprivation lah. hahaha. But seriously, there's a group of us (all over 30s) who gather at somewhere near Redhill to play. I only just joined them last week. And the group is growing... this week, another 2 new members! Yesterday just went to upgrade 'kan tong'... haha... only at a fraction of what we'll pay for the real car!
  5. bro... you are so right... is it that easy to tell?? eh, i'm telling you it's about dollar and sense here! Dollar: R/C car is definitely a cheaper hobby compared to reefing. Sense: It's really exciting when you race with a friend and drift in and out of bends! Okie, truth be told... i can no longer afford playing with real car (and running foul of the law). Now got bb, must be more responsible.... this, my wife tells me daily! haha. If u read my tank thread, u'll know it's not the first time i'm considering the decomm to softies... This time, i'm quite serious liao... I've already started giving out my SPS to my bro-in-law. But my LPS mostly from GO, so will try to sell them to recoup some money to finance my new hobby. haha. Keep a look out...
  6. i was just sharing with bro Raydiative that there's a 70% chance i will change to softies tank (i.e. keep only mushies and zoas). Maintenance wise, i realised i really cannot do the target feed thing (even with the right equipment). At least not on a regular basis. nevermind lah, i'll think about it for another month or so... hey, have you started school already??
  7. i recently managed to find one that's good enough size, but price quite high. But no choice lah, i give in to temptation easily. how abt some mushies to colour up ur tank?? they're very easy to maintain and they propagate well.
  8. Oh yes oh yes! that's yours! and like you said... It really does open BIG!!! it simply covers up the entire rock (and more). scaping is really an art... so far, most are quite the usual sort... stack up, stack across... for practical reasons... I'm really lousy at this scaping thing... everytime i thought i would do better, it turned out worse... haha.
  9. I can tell it's huge... and quite honestly (and no... this is NOT an April Fool's day joke)... I'm planning to change into Softies tank... Most probably after i return from HK, i may be putting up all my LPS for sale... hehe. Need something easier to maintain, coz gotta spend some time with my new hobby...
  10. i've not tried sea hare, but my YT seemed to be more 'atas', and only eat red bamboo, pellets or nori seaweed. Rarely peck on the hair algae on the rocks. However, my Yellow Eye Kole on the other hand, is a very hard-worker. I've nominated him for employee of the year! He pecks on hair algae growing on glass and rocks all day long! Purple Tang also does that, but not as hard working as Kole. For your consideration...
  11. Pink one - see bottom right corner. i'll decide the other combo for you then.
  12. hey bino! i also just realised i've not posted at your thread, even though i've read it. Nice pix with very drama-like commentary leh. ur tank is way too clean dude! haha... very neat and tidy. And i'm very impressed with your supreme self-control when it comes to stocking!!! i think you should exchange ur pink bubble for a bright green cat eye bubble! and yes, GSP, as suggested by lemon would really be very very nice
  13. Yes Yes, i ordered it!! And it's really big polyps! Nice! Okie... how about you choose... 1) 1 pink + 1 blue spotted 2) 1 pink + 1 green spotted 3) 1 blue spotted + 1 green spotted 4) BIG hairy mushroom polyp!!! Gosh, this one opens big big... i've got from a fellow reefer for a rock, of about 5-6 polyps... think it's opening too big for my tank... should be removing 1 or 2 for exchange. wat you say?!!? but gotta wait till i'm back from HK okie.. let me know, i'll frag when im back.
  14. i just really hope i can find some nice ones... will not know what's rare (coz i dun have collection as big as yours and many others here). So will just buy whatever i dun have... and yups... read the AVA requirements liao. No probs. well well... i'm also trying to do some mini fragging, but i guess that'll be next weekend le. I believe i may have something nice for you too. You like red shrooms?? So far i think ur tank dun have right?? Thanks to those who PM-ed, i will try my best to reply you individually when i return from HK. I should be able to decide exactly what i wish to sell by then.
  15. wah! you wanna buy somemore... lately u've been getting a lot of very very nice zoas and mushies wor... (do you sense some envy here?) hahahaa... quite lucky with the cloves... there's a lot of baby ones growing everywhere around the rock. i even plucked out some bigger ones to plant them elsewhere in the tank. FTS... hmm... didnt take wor... coz the whole tank very messy now.
  16. i'll be travelling to HK on Thurs liao lor... hehe... hopefully can be as lucky as bro markie to find some nice zoas. how does next week sounds? thursdays are usually good.
  17. On the contrary, i personally feel RC cars (i think helis/planes/petrol RC cars are different class) are lower in costs... i could be wrong, coz i just started the RC hobby. My personal experience: Initial setup cost RC: <$800 could get you an upgraded controller + car + decent parts upgrade (drift tires etc...) Marine: <$1,000 gets you only a basic tank+equipment setup, and mostly used item. (Live stocks not included) (Some equipments, even 1K not enuff) Maintenance cost RC: charging of batteries (approx. 25-30mins per charge) <$5?? + buying new rims+tires. <$50 Parts upgrade ranges from $5 - hundreds (rarely in thousands) Marine: approx. $80 per month on electrical bills + $30 on food (abt 2 months) + buying of corals when hand itchy (assuming running on MH + chiller) Decomm returns RC: you should be able to get 50% of your investment Marine: almost the same. Depending on equipment brand. (depreciation is normally better with branded & well sort-after equipment) Oh well... This is my personal reality check when i calculated cost. Do i hear a 'decomm' somewhere??? hahaha...
  18. My new 'toy'... (back to childhood days)... hehe... anyone interested in RC?? Still beginner lah... but drifting is really damn fun!
  19. Some new palys in the foreground, and zoas at the back. Pink zoas, bought quite some time ago... There're plans to start fragging in the next few weeks... Same pix, top left corner are some new ones as well... (May have some spare frags to let go... PM if you're interested)... Alrighty... thats all for today...
  20. mushies, some new, some are colourful... I think the blue spotted ones should be able to frag when i have time... The pink ones should be good for frags too! Just need some time to get the hands wet. Maroon with blue dots (just spotted a new small piece on the same rock) Mixture of new and old mushies. Some new zoas on the top right hand side.
  21. Clove with purple/blue lobo Baby clove!
  22. Finally found a piece of Bubble... super bright green. (anyone knows if this is Cat-Eye?) am thinking of selling this much bigger piece now.
  23. On this last day of March 2009... some corals update. Prata Green Prata Red (green + red) foreground - some very nice leftover super green alveopora.
  24. WOW! Congrats... First, banggai babies... Then, Sun Coral spawning... and now Rics splitting... keep it up dude! Good one!
