Nope. Not using carbon. But good point. I'll also use them for 1 month and see how.

I'm sorry for the double-post... the forum didn't seemed to be responding... Mods, kindly help delete either the earlier post.

Something to share with you guys... http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6473161#post6473161 I was on CTE at abt 11 in the morning, and the entire Tunnel was 'shutdown'! Literally... traffic was diverted out to Cairnhill.

I cannot say for sure that NSW is the reason why my fishes died recently. But will share my experience. When my tank first crashed about 2 months ago, i had the entire tank (2.5'x2'x2') filled with NSW. It was all OK. This was way before the oil spill. Since then, i've been doing weekly water change with salt mix (Tropic Marin Pro-reef). For the past week, i didn't prepare Salt-mix in advance, thus decided to get a full jerry can of NSW. (will not name LFS here - as it's not ethical until there's any concrete confirmation). Used up the entire 20l of NSW for water change. Here are the casualties within the past 14 days. 6xchromis (bought 3 weekends ago) 5xtiny dunno-what tiny fish (bought 3 weekends ago) 1xkole (bought 1 month ago - was definitely healthy) 1xtrue perc (bought 1 month ago - also very healthy) Possible causes 1) NSW? 2) Sudden addition of chromis and tiny fish (total 11 here!) - these tiny fishes are well known to die (one a day - so no issues with them) 3) OD (overdose) of Az-NO3? Dosed 1 cap instead of 1 drop on the first day of use. 4) Added a few new small rocks of zoas (some from reefers and 1 from LFS) I dunno about you guys... but for sure, i will not be using NSW for awhile. I will rather use Tap water (treat with Seachem Prime) + salt mix now. No more buying of fishies too...

well... another newbie mistake, overstock in a short span... guess what... all died and brought a few others with them! am evaluating if i should get the recommendation from fuel... (seems like a good product). Mossrope: sorry i have yet to do the full test. Will endeavour to do it tomorrow. May still need your help me with the gel wor...

Wow Bro... you are good huh! indeed, it is the Plectranthias. Found this fish a really interesting specimen. Full parameter... hmm... most of us are using Salifert test kits (available at most LFS) these are the parameters that i will be checking (soooooooon). Salinity pH Kh Calcium Magnesium Phosphate Nitrate (i dont have test kit for this) For new tanks, include Ammonia and Nitrite.

coz you usually pop by after 10pm ah. here's some update, kole was found 'stuck' to MP40. Another death today. oh gosh. Skimmer still works as normal. NSW could be the problem, or maybe my excessive dose of Az-NO3. Obviously i did the "dose first, read later" mistake. Instead of 1 drop for the first day, i dosed slightly more than 1 cap full. Oppppps. in anycase, i wished it was the leopard and not kole... heartache.

What can I say, he takes after daddy. Anyway I know what makes him scream and yell, not difficult to "A" balloons from macs. Anyway, not to OT too much on a very useful thread. Good effort to help the community! I gotta go find something to contribute too. Damn I feel useless now.
-
You mean u actually tried using it?? Haha I gave up on that within 1 day. It's only good to be used to blow detritus off rocks. That is the only reason why I still hold on to it. Next time I go macs, I'm going to tug my boy along, get free balloon sticks!!!
-
Ding +1 for you.
-
Brilliant! And I'm one of those who benefitted from your "balloon stick" method. Super efficient and effective method. And my sea squirt is now idling in cabinet.
-
Didn't notice anything. I just cleaned it last night. Major stinker. Hoping for the best now.

Frankly dunno what is happening. I lost 12 fish in <10days. And from the looks, the Kole seems like the next victim. I suspect it could be the nsw. Or maybe the fish can't take salinity of 1.026? I'm okie with the chromis and mini fish dying. Well not ok ok, but less heartache. But Kole dying on me is a no no. Who's going to clean algae on the rocks now??? Better stop meddling with the tank for now. Let it slowly mature.

like what the pros always say... there's no secret 'tricks' in marine... keep the parameters in check! good work bro... can see the difference immediately. i must learn from u.

peace... this is way too OT liao...

hehehe... good shot bro goonz... that would have been my guess too. hint: it looks like a hawkfish, and its common name has 'hawkfish' in it, but actually it isn't a hawkfish... Complicated? sure it is... will announce the name tmrw... watch this space... in the mean time, keep the guesses coming.

oh birdnest, thanks in advance first... but let me get my current birdnest's colouration back first. Now it looks a little brown, but with constant lighting + good flow, i'm sure it will recover its colour soon.

i'm a smoker yes... but OCD, i'm not. hahaha. but truth be told, im very behind in doing parameter testing... didnt clean up my skimmer over the weekend as well. GOodness, maybe i should spend more time in husbandry instead of posting here. hmmmm..... btw: the hornies skirts are starting to colour up, i see alternate yellow coloration amidst the black skirts... Is this the way it's supposed to be? They are placed about 3" below ATI Blue plus lights... fairly strong and direct lighting, even more direct than my SPS!

comy, my wife takes this after birth... seems quite good. But from my personal experience (not with yomeishu) on the symptoms that you described, it really sounds like stress. I personally am going through it. When i had a new boss, and tank crashed almost one after another. Some advice (beside yomeishu), is to exercise regularly. Good physical fitness helps you to stay alert at work. At the same time, exercise also helps to release stress. Next thing that you will notice, is that insomnia kicks in. Your mind is physically tired, but body cannot sleep... Try bring ur gf for a run every evening (even if it's for 30mins) or weekend mornings. It is good for you too. Hope i'm not too OT here.

bhmmm... difficult as i take public transport nowadays... will tahan till next weekend bah... hey saw the bams in your tank thread... looking good and the tailspot is really something. I think CF has one of these in the recent shipment right??

eh, you know ah... i came home today to another leaning tower of pisa! this time round, i think one SPS prevented the rock from hitting the glass... but guess what, the sps didn't break! Ray pop by earlier to collect some stuff and witness the rock leaning on the glass... FInally pop it back into place and this time round, hopefully it will stay in place till the weekend. i decided not to get my hands wet till weekend. And finally, today, this fish that i bought a few weeks back decided to do a cameo! And i managed to take a few shots! Haven't seen it since the day it was dropped into the tank. Can anyone guess the name of this fish??? Note: it's not that straightforward as it seems... Jeremy cannot participate, coz he is the one who gave it up so i can buy it!

If only I can get as disciplined as you bro. I'm sure the next time I visit you, the pink birdnest will need some trimming.
