Parameters looking good. Increase kh by 10ml per day? Then measure it after 1 week. If you are worried, measure daily for the first 7 days. After that it's auto pilot. But just to be safe, I measure the 3 key parameters fortnightly. The challenge is not in obtaining the desired levels but keeping them constant, with dosing pump, you are half way there. The final lap is to ensure the right amount goes into your tank to help your corals grow. Good luck bro!

Guess it's time I change my bulb to 20kk as well. The 12pm that I'm using is a little too dull in colours.
-
Jacky, will you be comparing the result from this toy vs salifert?
-
Marshal (and brothers), Super stuff for a 6months old tank! A1! Hopefully dosing will help maintain the tank. Do u have pictures of "before" T5? Side by side comparison would be good. Hey forgot to ask you just now, how many Kelvin is your bulb? 20kk or 14kk?

How about some high-class helfrinchi firefish? Otherwise, the common yellow wrasse also adds some nice bright colours to your tank.

Power monti pack!!! *thumbs up*

The word "procrastination" definitely doesn't exist in your dictionary! Review time again.

Jacky, pls change my alkalinity test to calcium test instead?

Thanks Brudder! I think I may have offended some Singapore pool fellas previously. Everytime I buy, numbers dont appear. I stopped, numbers start popping out. So I stop donating already. Haha. Quick update: fibre optic sold to a good bro. Am sure he can make it blossom further.

Another Reefing couple here is Desi and ketchup. They both have a fantastic setup as well. Recently just changed their 1/4 jbj to a compressor. With no regrets at all! Actually I've been considering an upgrade for the longest time and the only show-stopper has been the chiller. Like you, I'm unable to have it in the kitchen and I don't have a balcony. So I'm having to live hot air within the living room. Which also means, no upgrading of tank till we upgrade the home. I guess your FOWLR plan does explain the size of your QT! Btw yes, the QT, once decommissioned, can be used to house frags! Or possibly seahorses? Or breed cleaner shrimps as reef food? many things you do. Good luck and all the best!

Anytime to drop by cedric's. Always a pleasure to visit him. Let me know, I'm on leave on monday, most prob jio him go BF.

Surely you can't be considered a newbie, given the plans here, it's very much an expert setup! I like the sump design! Maybe can consider put the condenser into the kitchen (where u need to dry clothes etc or a balcony if u have one.) Forgot to ask: guess it's going to be a mixed reef with SPS huh?

Well, the decomm thoughts were due to lack of effort to do water change. Did a lot of diaper change for my #2 instead. So things were pretty much left untouched for 6-7 months. Which resulted in a high salinity (1.031), and that killed my favorite lime green Millie colony. I didn't even keep frags of it. Let me know if u wanna drop by k, I'll go buy some colonies to fill it up. Hahaha...

Sure. Got chance will upload some pix from main tank. Waiting for u to restart ur SPS journey. Go get a dosing pump, it will definitely help make life a lot easier.

Looks like a nice big build! Lots of thought and research went into the planning. Definitely following this thread... Few questions to ask: Is the 1/3hp sufficient? Is it advisable to have the QT linked to main tank? And boy, 3'++, 4' QT is no joke!

Hi. Do u mean u used the nitrate test kit to measure the water from your tap? For small tanks, it may be more economical to buy distilled water rather than invest in ro/di unit. Cos besides the one-time purchase of the unit, there's recurring cost involved (resins and carbon). A replacement set of carbon and resin will set you back by $80+ (iirc). Also RO/DI units have wastage, whereas DI, there isn't. Suggest to go either pay per use (distilled water) or get a 2nd hand DI unit (crystal pro) as suggested by Jacky. If u can, drop by madpetz, the last time I went about 3 months back, they have one RO/DI demo unit.

2 suggestions: 1) why not have the chiller return directly into main tank instead of sump? This way your tank will truly have chilled water. 2) sidetrack abit: increase the water level of the skimmer slightly. The skimmate is now forming inside the chamber. Makes it hard to clean. Raise it such that the skimmate starts at the cleaning cup neck. This way you only need to wash the collection cup, don't need to clean the chamber. IMHO, a more accurate way is to use an external temp controller that comes with external probe. This probe should be placed into the main tank. This way, it's more relevant, else the chiller thermostat is merely detecting sump temp (which could be usually higher due to insump power-sucker pumps.

Update: batch1 reserved for collection tmrw.
