If I was you, I'll go crazy as well. This shouldn't be the case. Just curious to know when u did the salt/fresh water test: Is it the chiller pump at the same power point? And you changed only the water in the pail from fresh to tank salt water (scooped from tank? Or you plug the chiller back to tank?) Im not good with chemistry thus don't quite understand why would having salt content make water more conductive? Water (with salt or not) as I was taught, is a very good conductor for electricity.

Dosing pump? It's fairly accurate and affordable as well. Best part is that it can help to maintain the core parameters as well.

Yo Yo Jacky bro, thanks for confirming this. Theoritically, a lot of reports says that water change will help export nutrients. Your experiment results proved it. The challenge is, must ensure water parameter (ca/kh/Mg) remains balanced. Tsk Tsk, you can bring the red scoot along and donate in my tank on Friday leh. Haha.

And you are right, he test kits are quite basic. They are essential to do diagnostic and tuning of CR or dosage volume... however the 2 "non-vibrating" probes are good to have (IMHO) ORP, never measure.. Fishes are doing fine. Not sure of ORP affects corals though. Whereas ph will be somewhat stable if kh is constant. Then again, I only have a very short 1 yr experience with SPS, I could be wrong. Btw, since you are tracking po4 closely now, would you be curious to know if water change can export po4 and no3 faster than GFO?

Ahhhh... There's a chemistry explanation, which I wouldnt bore you with (partly becos I flunked chemistry). But do you see good coraline algae growth lately? Or the SPS are growing new tips? Try increase the kh dosage to match the intake. Soon you'll find coraline irritating.
