Hey sunny, thanks for dropping by the thread again. Weekends are really precious man, so no worries about it. Eniram is a close buddy... his CO and my CO are childhood friends. And apparently we didn't know each other are into marine until recently he visited us during CNY and saw my tank.

Hey, not flying huh? Eh, if you can, and if your CO dun mind... please drop by... i need all the hands i can find! I think pushing the tank should be no problem, coz i did try the last time to do some minor shifting. I think the painful part is the scaping. Right now still can't firm up what i want to do. A friend just gave me another suggestion to a new spot... i'm considering... Giving myself the next 3 days to evaluate then decide. Once done, we can go for a good dinner, on me!

Upz for you... there's one really nice piece of large rock! too bad my tank is too small, else i'll surely grab!
-
Thanks bro! The inspiration are all, like for SPS sia... not really for me (yet). Besides, all so big tank, mine only maciam like a cube leh. I have some ideas in mind liao... hehe... but dunno how feasible it is... chances are, will need to use some epoxy plus piping + egg crates. Need to buy more pieces of flat rocks (various sizes) also. The way i see it, i'll be up all night from friday till saturday for the shifting plus scaping... Btw, if you can, help me keep your LPS for one more week can? After this rescape, i think will have more space to stock! hehe. thanx man.

Bro, i'm planning a rescape of my tank, i.e. only need like a couple of long/flat pieces... is that okie if i pick only a couple of pieces? can view before committing right? regards wilson

New CHAPTER! After talking to some friends and much thoughts... i've decided to shift my tank! As my trap to catch the candy hog is not working, i'll take this opportunity to do some major rescaping + catch that Bloody Irritating Territorial Candy Hog. So, here's the current placement of my tank in the living room... The tank is sitting like "not-here, not-there" along the wall, so, i think it only makes sense to shift it to somewhere that doesn't stand out like a sore thumb. Plan is to shift it approx 1m to the right + 50cm to the front. With this new placement, the tank is shift to alongside the pillar. It also has lotsa empty space behind the tank, which im intending to place Chiller (hot air will be facing outwards) + CR behind the tank. However, one thing that i'll lose is 1 side of the view. No biggie i hope. In fact, think it'll be a lot easier to scape the tank. (plus placement of wave makers) Any suggestions from anyone? Here's my plan for this weekend.: 1) Friday night: remove all corals, transfer chiller + skimmer. 2) Saturday morning: remove all Live Rocks, siphon water. 3) Once done, all fish will be removed. (This is when the B.I.T.C.H will be caught and thrown into jail... anyone wants? FOC! But must come and help shift my tank! hahah... 4) Afterwhich, i'll be siphoning out the rest of the water into the big tub. 5) With just sand in main tank + sump... i intend to manually push the tank into it's new position. Good thing i put 4 'cushion stoppers' at each of the 4 corners when i first got the tank. This should ensure that the flooring will not be 'scratched'. And makes it easier to 'slide' into its new position. Did i missed out anything? Really need help on this, as i know shifting tank is no joke. Any missed steps or wrongly planned, and it's either flooding or the entire tank will be wrecked! More importantly... Any volunteers? With this new shifting, i'm planning to offload some LPS... so please refer to my upcoming sales thread...

New update over the weekend... (really love this colour!) Managed to find this piece of RED mushies... Counted like at least 5-7 polyps of various sizes on it. Maybe it's a normal mushroom, but this bright red piece really added some nice colours to the tank. Now, trying to hunt for some nice blue ones...

My First Marine Aquarium
wilsontantw replied to marinetankguppy's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Hey, yes i remember you... am glad that you made the right choice to custom make a new main tank. Am sure you're glad with the results. Just visited ur tank thread.... Not sure if you ran the full ANN cycling process, but my first observation is, you may wish to add more Live Rock... As you're not using Live Sand, your sandbed may not be matured enough to start loading your tank with big eaters (namely the 2 tangs). This being said, i like your lion! (always loved them... but becoz their predators, it's almost impossible to keep them due to their high bioloads. Maybe when i get sick of my reef tank, i will go back to making my tank a predators one. Filled with lions and frog fish. hehe... Btw, what do you feed your lion with? It's really not easy to get them to eat frozen stuff. You'll need to slowly ween it to take dead market prawns... I hope i dun offend you by saying this, but you do know that lionfish fins are poisonous yah? NEVER attempt to put your hand into the tank... Btw, i'm not sure about you.... but i totally regret getting the 3 spot hogfish (aka candy hog). It;s like the king of the tank now, super aggressive during feeding time. I'm trying all ways and means to catch it. It's a smart fish... my trap is totally not working!!! Am planning to do a rescape just to catch it. Your Weipro may not be sufficient to skim out all dirty stuff... (with your fish + lion) Finally, the crushed corals in ur sump... potential nitrate factory... do remember to remove them when the tank matures... else will crash sooner than u realised. Do keep us updated... -
Woo hoo... my favr reds took the cheque flag! A pity massa didnt finish. now just hoping for an arsenal victory!
-
quite frankly, today is a good sports day... (or rather couch potato day). F1 - which i missed due to church (now watching rerun) Liverpool vs Man U - which i also missed coz busy trying to set up trap to catch the candy hog. Now trying to watch both chelsea vs arsenal and F1 rerun... We're all learning from each other ah... i myself also just restarted this hobby...
-
anyone?
-
Yeah... pity Liverpool lost too... My (anti-Man U) colleague immediately sms me... saying the game is rigged! hahaha... But nice stuff u have in the tank... we should exchange pointers one of these days.
-
dude, just my 2 cents.. the white bag may reduce sound, it will also trap debri... over time, you'll experience major blockage -> flooding.
-
Thanks bro... a red open brain... as a welcome gift would be neat! muahaha

Hi WhiteTiger, (i write with good intentions) Is your deltec from your office as well? Seems like both your deltec and chiller pictures have similar lighting conditions and background/floor tiles with skirting tiles. No no, i'm not scrutinising, just that i'm in the line that requires me to be exceptionally observant with colours and details. You're not alone in 'learning' here, everyone else is. We share and learn. In case written words mislead, do not misinterpret my intentions, im sure a lot of us really wish to learn from one who is educated in marine biology, it's an institutionalised knowledge... whereas most of us are just self-learn from online/books/forums (or better still, thru mistakes, aka experience). You mentioned in your first post that your tank is coming on Thursday and will be sharing with us pix? Q: You know what they say about trying to read tonality from written words (email/sms/forum)? A: It's what you want to interpret at the time you read. cheers...

Thanks for the tip, was supposed to go GO during the night shipment, but had to go out and entertain some clients that night. Missed Iwarna's one on Good Friday also. See how, maybe if tomorrow afternoon can spare some time.

huh NEC?? anyway, yes i agree, once the boot is 'layered' the bass is fuller. tighter. i've got some metallic parts of my boot sound proofed to reduced vibrations... but not the lip...

I've got a pair of black clowns. 1 host a blue/purple tip anemone, the other host an open brain... (maybe that's why their common name is clown fish). Dun even understand why an open brain... it doesn't even have extended tentacles.
