  1. As long as the ich problem is under control, that's really good news. powder brown is well known to be hard to keep, so dun be disheartened. Why don't you do a lions fish only tank? there're lots of nice lion fish. The good thing is, they're hardy, and dont need super high flow. One of my friend used to keep all lions... really majestic when u see them swim around... especially when hunting.
  2. Thank goodness, did some more reading, and realised i IDed the fish wrongly, it's a long-fin bannerfish (a family of butterfly fish)... and not a moorish idol... haha. Truly a newbie mistake. Poor-man's Moorish Idol
  3. Anyone has any experience of keeping a Moorish idol in a mixed reef? I read online that this fish is not exactly reef safe... anyone has other experiences? Quite a nice fish, and it's already feeding (brine shrimps and some frozen RX cube) in my 'acclimatising net' in the main tank. However, i did not release it, just in case he takes my zoas/elengance for supper tonight. I made a big mistake of not reading before purchasing (sigh)... According to pet education, it's not very compatible coz it says it'll eat polyps and/or corals. I guess it'll remain the net until i find another owner??? What a pity, really like the fish.
  4. haha... very comical commentary for a sad situation. Yes, wilson has 9 lives. haha... how's the ich problem? better now?
  5. Seems like the ventilation is much better than previous. happy for you bro. Quite 'high-tech' fans u got huh... got lights somemore. DIY, something i never seemed to do well. haha. Looking forward to your updates. Slowly update/upgrade, more shiok, can see progressive improvement.
  6. This is how i trap my candy hog. > Use the above trap, put in 2 mirrors (one on the base, the other on the left (standing). > You do not really need to sink it to the bottom of the tank, somewhere middle/top will do... wherever your fish finds food. > Tie a piece of LR (with fishing line) at the bottom end of the trap door (to act as a weight), stop it from dropping by inserting a toothpick at the top of the trap door when you open it... > consistently throw in food from the top of the trap. > within a few days, the fish will automatically swim in and out to feed. > once the fish gets used to it's own image, it'll stay there for quite a long time. (this could range from a few mins to 1 month)... depending on how 'smart' your fish is... > when the fish is perpetually in the trap, this is when you can remove the toothpick stopper, the trap door drop down (by gravitational pull of the LR that is tied to the bottom). > Tada...
  7. Soul, just wondering about the media for CR ah... I've got some Rowa Lith C+, is it sufficient? should i get some ARM media to supplement what the Rowa Lith?
  8. Bro, is yours the one with both pH + ORP controller? I can't seemed to find the 2-in-1 controller from their site... Sorry for the trouble, if possible, can PM me the costs you paid?
  9. thanks bro... appreciate ur help. Anyone seen this at C328? That's actually nearer for me.
  10. i've got no clue what that is... do you know what brand that is ah?
  11. sigh, i went around 11pm earlier, on the way home from work, but the lady (i presume that's Janet) says no stock, gotta wait 2 weeks. So i just left my number with them and left. Very disappointed. Bro, is it true that even though it's listed as aquatronica, the equipment is actually not from aquatronica?
  12. Bro, very detailed instructions... but frankly, i lost you half way thru... I tell you what, i have a dozen of tiger + 6 pack heineken in my fridge! Not to mention the amount of wine + hard liquor... You're welcomed any time! hahaha... (but seriously, i'll do some more reading first...) Let me go get the Co2 fixed up, buy the PH controller first. This should be done by this weekend. Maybe i'll take one day leave, and we'll get down to firing up the CR! you can see how's the pink frag that you pass me the other day... now it's slowly growing... (the pink is coming out really nice). Kum sia man!
  13. wa... thanks for the very nice comment... i have to say the same about you too (though we've never met). Yes, i share your sentiments with regards to the 2-in-1 as well. Just thought i do a little bit more study on it before i commit. i'm certainly getting one this week (most prob tomorrow)... better call them to check if they have stock first. thanks Law, and i see you're still having ur insomnia problem huh? Btw, i'm trying to force myself to sleep soon. It's only Monday, and i better try to catch some rest (less i buy the new toy tomorrow) hehe.
  14. Hey RX, How you doing man... You know what, i actually have a CR with CO2 + solenoid liao. Bought from a fellow reefer when he decommed. But it is sitting there for 2 months un-used. He gave me the medium as well. Not sure what it is. I've got magnesium to be used in a CR also. (from sunnymau whom i bought the tank from)... So technically, it's waiting to be fired only. haha. My acro (supposedly table), has 2 crabs inside wor. Are they acro crabs?!? It's light red in colour. Btw, how's Victor doing lately... should have asked you to pass him the frags i wanted to give him. What's balling ah? I dunno what's that man. The magnesium that i have, needs to be used in a reactor. Cannot do direct mix/dose leh. Hey, you should ask franklin about my fish... hehe... my YT... power one! come over one of these days... you'll go 'waaaaaa'. The colouration is bright yellow and fatty. hehe. Btw, you know how to use the CR not ah? I'm planning to set up by this weekend (latest next week), coz now got quite a few sps, and i'm too lazy to dose, so better get the CR up soon.
  15. Good to hear that bro... just got a sms from my friend (the one i mentioned last night to you)...
  16. I recently just bought 1 slab of the Formula 1. Quite honestly, i used a couple of cubes, and i think that's about all i'll ever feed my fish/corals. Easy to thaw, but extremely hard to feed. Coz have to manually 'break the gel', I tried to feed some to my fungi, it did tried to swallow it, but guess what, after 30mins, i see it spat out the food... But of coz, the other fish do eat it. But sparingly. The 2 other food mix that im using are Henry's (since 3 months back) and RX Gan's (just used since 19 Apr). Both are easier to thaw and feed... Try Henry's or RX Gan's... Both are good in their own way... but pls have a good skimmer. Coz i normally flood the tank after thawing... For Ocean Nutrition, i think it's better to stick to their pellets... less messy. (I'm a long-time user of Forumla 2 pellets) Just my 2 cents, again, i'm not the best critic.
  17. haha... im someone who likes to buy my fish small, then slowly watch them grow big. Problem is, all the fish have now grown fat! But i like them chubby lah. haha. I bought my BT and black clowns as babies, they were all so small when i first got them. Now, they're grown up already. Soon, the tank will be too small for them. i dunno what to say, but i'm mixing quite a few different food for the fish/corals now. My freezer is like filled with fish food. (luckily we dun cook much, else sure no space to keep). Eh, the blue stag is really chio lor, but have to wait till i power up my CR. See, i've been trying to get it up for the longest time (actually i bought it for more than 2 months liao). Problem is, there're many things to do before i can fire it up. - buy PH Controller - top up CO2 tank - buy a small feed pump - custom-build a small container tank at the base of the CR to prevent any leakage of the Ehiem circulation pump. - Most importantly... how to use that bugger!?!? need to find someone who has a CR and knows how to use it. Sigh, just to fire up 1 equipment, i need to do so many things...
  18. hi law... glad u still remember me! Yes, i managed to shift the tank. 2 persons only actually. We took like 6 hours to complete everything. (including some minor rescape). Im thinking of getting the above... what do you think? coz i believe once the system stabilises, i should only need it for my CR? I would figure its quite a value-for-money product actually... (you have any comments? - maybe can PM me if it's some '-ve' ones)...
  19. Bro, you got PM. Bought from forum sponsor iwarna.
  20. Has anyone tried this product before? Aquatronica ph-orp controller Does it allow you to monitor both pH and ORP (o3)? Just wondering, the image shown here, has only 1 powerpoint, so how can i control both CR and Ozoniser? Pls pardon me if im not making sense here... im still learning abt all these complicated stuff.
  21. thanks a lot bro! this is really good help! I've temporary disconnect it, until i get the necessary supporting equipment. Seems like next on the list is ORP controller hor... haha.
  22. I know of someone who wants to get a 3x2x2 with external overflow!!! (exactly like yours... however, he's asleep now... have already sms-ed him).
  23. WAT?!? R U kidding me? Maybe i should change my N95 to N82 liao... Thus i guess this is what they say "a good carpenter never blames his tools"...
  24. Ahhhh!!!! knew something's missing lah! TMD, which is the input and which is output sia?!?! Dammit, now must go buy an airpump?!? Yes, this model is adjustable type... i'm going really slllllooooowwww... the ozoniser is set at super low rate now.
