  1. ah... great! i shall check it out personally. My bro-in-law is doing up his new tank with Henry, maybe i should quickly bundle this with him too...
  2. yeah, i did some research on AM and RD... you mentioned u bought at Henry's place? Thought i should do some 'competitor's analysis' before i pump down my dough. now undergoing cost cutting measures.
  3. hi my friend, just saw you have a nano wavebox in your tank... did u get it brand new? If you dun mind, can PM me the exact price? coz im hunting ard for the best price for this piece of toy. once it's set up to run, do you mind if i drop by to take a look at how it works?
  4. Nice! Thanks much MbmC. it's really helpful.
  5. thanks solo77. Was hoping those with experience can share a little. im quite keen to get one actually, but was hoping can 'see' one in action before committing the $$ (time's are bad lah). my tank's 2.5' x 2' x 2'. (approx 280++ litres).
  6. Hi all, anyone has any experience with Nano Wavebox 6206? I'm using a seio (dunno which model) + nanostream 6025 in a 2.5' x 2' x 2'. (no SPS, just a few LPS). The wave movement doesn't look 'natural'. pls share ur experience/opinions or 'substitute' products if any. TIA
  7. Just managed to catch regal tang today. It's 5" and not 3". Reserved pending collection.
  8. Have a regal tang that i wish to let go. I bought this fish as a baby (20cents coin size) and now its an adult (at least 3" in length). Has been with me for almost 1 year. Big, fat and healthy. Very active and big eater. Eats dried seaweed, red bamboo, pellets (ocean free or dr bassleer), mysis... etc... Tail has abit of bit marks, but it's part and parcel of living with a YT in a 2.5' tank. It's uncaught yet. So buyer has to wait till i catch it. Price: $25 or name your offer price. p/s: This is NOT a fully blue tang, the belly is pale yellow in colour. Pick up at Bedok Reservoir Road.
  9. After 1 month of not-touching the tank (but i did some very minor shifting of corals due to toppling by irritating crabs!), finally the tank is stabilised. New addition: Copperband to control aiptasia Tunze 6025 RIP: Maxima Clam (just when i thought it was growing, one day, i suddenly found the flesh not opening fully. And before i could react, it was gone. Quickly remove it from the tank to prevent further spreading... but within the week, both my purple firefish gone (one after another). FTS: 21 May 2008 While i'm thinking of reducing my carbon footprint, i was also considering to upgrade to a 4 footer... but keeping fish + softies and one multi-layered Montipora plate (the red one). The plan is to reduce width of the tank. From 2.5x2x2 (10 sqft) to a 4x1.5x2 (12 sqft) Only an increase of 2sqft but the length is almost doubled (better for my YT/BT who are growing up fast). And i also have plans to add more fish (maybe 1 or 2 more tangs) Also planning to do up a full height cabinet (as CEO is not very happy with all the mess in the house). Does anyone has any recommendation to keep this cost to the lowest?? Please feel free to PM me your tank maker for costs + setup. Am planning to do a 4' with EOF. the EOF is planned to be on the RHS on the tank. This is so i can get either a tunze wavebox or vortec to simulate wave motion. Thanks a million!
  10. Bro, priceless indeed! as you said, reef on!
  11. amazing hor... i also got a shock when i read up... thats why i guess, maybe SPS is not my cup of tea... save money for other hobbies. hahaha.
  12. Errmm... new probe will probably cost more than the price u pay for the meter (reefdepot) Here's the ph pen price. (That's almost half the price of just the probe).
  13. Oppps... my apologies bro, think i'm 3 days late in replying you... (you've got PM).
  14. Wa.... now got cash to go shopping liao!
  15. Vic, AM sells them. its quite good price (4 red notes and still got change), however, i think it doesn't come with calibrating fluid. (can't confirm though) Brand new ah.
  16. Wah... the red milli with blue tip is really really nice! i like!
  17. That's precisely my dilemma now. Dunno to sps or not. they're doing well now... so its an encouragement. But the running cost (even on such a small tank as mine) already im thinking twice. Am embarking on a new 'project' hehe. Recently my good friends all change car, i see already also gian. haha... so trying to save abit. hehe. skimmer... that sounds good leh. maybe we should meet up for kopi soon! tell me more abt it. And i did change the bulb! Pheonix 14KK ah! that's precisely the reason why i'm not selling the light set yet. So lose a lot of money... sigh.
  18. it's not for the planet bro... it's for my wallet ah. I'm trying to save some dough for my another 'project'... cannot have too many hobbies man... my income doesn't allow so many luxuries, so have to pick my 'battles' carefully. Monti's are easier to keep, so i think i'll keep this one for awhile... really cant bare to let go of this piece. But no worries, once my tank stabilises i'll start fragging. (i.e. break into small pieces, hopefully they'll propogate). Today, realised the importance of having FR! After doing some minor shifting on last Sat, i forgot to turn on the FR pump. Now got algae problem, just within 2 days only. tsk tsk tsk... can u imagine life without FR (with Sorb4)??? amazing! And active carbon! I must say it works like a charm too. My tank used to have some yellowish colour (especially when i woke up in the morning to view the tank. After a fellow reefer (Sonic Frank), passed me some active carbon to try.. woo hoo... beautiful, the water is now crystal clear!
  19. Hmm.. let's see. 1) 250W MH > 4xT5s? Thought of doing that, but cant seemed to find something that comes in a set like Solite. Inclusive of 2x 1w moonlight. What i'll do is just to turn the MH for 2 hrs instead of the existing 4. Thus, some sps (namely the newly bought Acro) have to go. (sianz) 2) Skimmer, wa zan eh, but this skimmer super good sia, i think the 50W is worth it, as long as it's hardworking and keep everything in check. 3) FR, i dunno how to T-off anymore. I've got a AB5000, this is already T to chiller and main return. My current FR pump is a blood s()cking 800l/h @ 16W dolphin pump which will be replaced very very soon! Am thinking of getting a good pump to T-off to FR + CR. 4) CR, dun consume much meh? i think the ehiem pump that comes with it.. tsk tsk tsk, sure eat more power ah. 5) Chiller, ah, this one, confirm i'll push up slowly... 0.1 degree every 2 days... now set at 26.5C, eventually will put it at 27C (+/- 0.5C). This should save a lot more power. I believe at this stage, i'll still keep my monti... and the smaller frags which requires lower lighting+flow requirements, this should be sufficient. Will observe for the next few months and see how. Anyone keen on the acro?
  20. Thanks Kelstorm. appreciate your advice. i guess it's just back to jbj + accela. Alternatively, i've did some research over the day, and found this thing called redsea wavemaster pro . I have not heard of anyone using this here... any experience? At this price, seems like it's quite a good piece of equipment (taking advantage of the lower USD now lah)
  21. Due to some carelessness, my CO managed to get to see the past few month's electricity bill. Needless to say, kena a good one from her... "how come the bill so high? Furthermore, we were away for 2 weeks on holiday in march?!!??" Naturally, my first reaction was: "Oh, Garment increase electricity bill increase lor" - this despite me knowing its only w.e.f 1 Apr. hehe Then, she went ohhh.... <But can't be so much what!!!> Naturally, i was speechless thereafter. Sigh... the hazards of reefing... always keep the bill away from your CO, even if you're paying for it! Anyway, this afternoon, just saw NEA's TVC on energy conservation... And by some weird coincidence, watched this tv program about carbon footprint (yet again!) Suddenly felt like i should do my part to save the planet! Am considering of reverting back to LPS+softies (or maybe even softies + fish only)... Thus, may be going on a massive selling spree... Watch this space... First to go, i believe, would be the SPS... 1) Bright green Acro colony (and i just got this piece of beauty like 2 weeks ago) 2) Red Monti Plate (multi-plate + on a very nice piece of LR) (Just when i started to observe growth on the plate) 3) Purple Monti Plate (no pix for now) 4) CR + solenoid valve + Co2 tank (never used before lor!) Sigh... Bro Soul, too bad ah... dun think i'll need to fire up the CR liao. I'll do some careful consideration for one more week, after which, i'll decide whether to put them up on sale or not.
  22. hi xiaochew, thanks so much for ur advice. the ocean pulse is considered as 'affordable', but im just not sure what wavemakers i can pair it with. Accela is one of the brands, just not sure if hydor or tunzes are compatible. A check on the Internet does not reveal which other brands are okie (besides accela of coz). Anyone has any experience with this?
  23. Need some advice for wave-making in my 2.5' x 2' x 2' tank. I'm planning to create an alternating wave on the left and right side of the tank. Currently, i'm planning to get 2x Tunze 6025, placing one on each side on the tank (at the back, facing front). Question: is there any controller that can alternate them? Not sure if the Tunze single controller can do that? I think it's not very cost-effective to get multi-controller. Coz if i take multi-controller + 2x6025, that's near the price of a tunze wavebox. Is it possible to get JBJ Ocean Pulse Duo to alternate the 2x6025?
  24. u diver, sure know lots of fish types... for me, small tank... cant keep a lot of fish. sad.
