      Hi kiko,

Did your maid fried the pomfret for u as dinner...lol!

  2. IME, nassarius snails are pretty good in this area if you have a sandbed. Not that they can't survive in a bare bottom tank, just that it is always fun to watch them emerge from within the sand in almost an instant like zombies.
  3. Watching random YouTube videos can be so addictive...

  5. In reefing terms, bare bottom means nothing on the base of the tank. Most reefers who use egg crates as a cushion between the live rocks and the base of the tank will have some form of substrate, mainly sand, to conceal them.
  6. You might just find the answer if you look hard enough...
  7. Wrasses like these should be in the Avatar movie... the stripes look like war paint on the cheeks. Very cool.
  8. I hope you're not planning to keep one in an IQ5 as it is too small for a peacock mantis... Just some things you need to consider before keeping one: 1. It has the potential of breaking glass (and as mentioned above, acrylic as well), so getting a tank with thicker walls should help. 2. There is certain risk in putting your bare hands in the tank, so precaution has to be taken. If you plan to add corals, do it before you add the mantis. I would stick a note beside the tank to serve as a reminder as well as to warn others about the danger. 3. Tank maintenance may be a problem, so a magnet cleaner would help. 4. Bio load may be high depending on what you feed, so be prepared for regular water changes.
  9. Wah... looks really good. Must visit you some time.
  10. How about doing a search in YouTube on mantis shrimp, get a "feel" of how powerful their spear / punch is (need to tune your volume a little higher for better effects ), before you consider keeping one?
  11. It looks like it is bursting at the seams! Lol... I like the CNY greeting. Huat ah!
  12. Nice! I like the first one. The following is a video that I found useful as a guide for aquascaping. Its rather tedious (I'm a lazy reefer... ), but I think it serves well for SPS tanks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNwh_TDhGkY
  13. Lol... seems like my avatar has garnered more attention than my tank! PMed you, bro.
  14. Welcome back! You might wanna consider putting an acrylic between the scrubber and the light bulb to prevent any accident splashes.
  15. Adjust the valve so that the water level just below the neck of the skimmer before it enters the collection cup.
  16. I'm more than willing to help you off-load the high end zoas...
  17. Unfortunately, I have mixed results from my experience. On my first try, the pistols paired almost immediately. After I introduced another one, it got whacked like crazy, so I had to separate them. I've always used the betta box with separator and monitor closely on aggression. Maybe others can share their experience?
  18. You need to elaborate on this. Was the tank still running with pumps and bio media (live rocks or bio homme) when you transferred the water to the nano tank? If it has been stagnant for a few weeks, your water is probably not safe to use. Besides, salinity would have gone out of whack due to evaporation. Water from an established tank (provided all the perimeters are correct) may speed up cycling, but it is not instant plug-&-play. Beneficial bacteria that breaks down ammonia, nitrite and nitrates mostly reside in porous live rocks and bio media, so transferring just the water will not help. I would suggest changing out the water from the nano and use NSW for now with daily small water changes till things are stabilized. Monitor the health of your corals closely.
  19. Since you have top bracing, it would look better if you have a custom made hood instead of open top, but this is really a personal preference. Nice idea on the in-built betta compartment. What material is the mesh made of? How is it secured to the framework? I thought I saw rivets... hopefully not metal ones.
  20. Happy New Year, bro! A fresh start to the new year... good stuff!
