  1. I'm using the G1 Maxspect 110W with the normal bracket, and tank height being 1.5 Ft, the corals get quite a blast of light. I do not have any PAR meters to obtain some data, so I have to depend on the colours on a trial & error basis. So far, I feel that it is over-powered for my tank. Hopefully, the DE Lighting folks can come up with brackets with height adjustments.
  2. The thing I like about using the same products (for this case, Maxspect LED Lighting) among other reefers is we could experiment and share our findings here. Looking forward to your updates, bro!
  3. Hahaha... when your new tank is ready, we can arrange again.
  4. I'm already looking forward to your updates! Why not start cycling while you are away? Ease off one week worth of urge to start filling the tank.
  5. Nice hammer... I really need to look for a hardy host for my clowns... they are moving from one colony of zoas to another!
  6. This is so true! I remembered the first time I performed the "operation", I was so afraid of hurting the colony, as though corals would "feel" pain, till I made a mess of it. There was a time when I was in one LFS, I told the helper I was sharing the colony with a friend and requested to split it. He said, "Ok!", and with a swift action, ripped the zoas in two with his bare hands! In my mind, I was like, "Be gentle!!!", but the zoas are still doing well and remained healthy even till today. I've never looked back since, and my fragging has improved. Find the right spot, swift and clean cut along the mat with a sharp razor blade, iodine dip for 5 to 10 mins before putting back into the tank. Hammer & chisel for those that are on the rocks.
  7. I prefer the one in the shade. My camera (& skills) can't really capture what you see in person. I'll take photos of my pink zoas and compare to the ones I posted some time back. Looks more orangey now...
  8. These 2 frags are from the same colony. The first one is placed under a shady area, and the other, out in the open under direct LED lights (both on the sand bed). The difference is even more obvious in person. Notice the colours are much more intense under the shade as compared to the one in the open. The white ring also seems to be thinner.
  9. Don't forget to inspect them! Eggs won't come off even if you dip them in hyper concentrated Coral RX! Do some skirt lifting...
  10. Still love your yuma more than mine... very nice colours! Upz for you, bro!
  11. Yay! Another nano reefer returns! What's the size of your sump tank? Photos will be good. That should help more in making choices for the right skimmer. Side topic: could you kindly post pics of your CRS tank?
  12. I know this comes a little late, but amazing photos, pete! You make a good voyeur, capturing all the classic moments... Too bad I couldn't meet you guys at Iwarna today... friday nights are kinda reserved for my gf. Very kind of Larry to drop off the SRC shirt with Auntie! Thanks bro! Jacky, I demand frags! With Nigel around, I'm sure you got something lovely to share!
  13. Its for the threads and posts. My old fashioned way of tracking what I read and not.
  14. Will we be getting the option "Mark as read & return to main" like we used to?
  15. Oh... I've been there some time back, but the place was still under renovation. I like the rooftop ambiance.
  16. All this while I have the impression that Club Med takes good care of your kids while you guys enjoy some "time off" to relax... is this concept still true?
  17. Wow... now that's a lot of supplements. I'm holding back on the dosing to prevent outbreak of algae again. Taking some time to figure out what works best for my system.
  18. Comy: During my down times, spending time taking care and looking at my tank lifts my spirits. It takes my mind off the troubles and issues that I have. What you need is some enthusiasm injected into you through fellow reefers to keep you going again.
  19. Your rics seem to be doing pretty well high up there... I really dunno what's wrong with mine...
  20. You can do a search on AC fuge mod. Details and pics available in both RC and Nano-reef. Aqua Clear (AC) is a popular hang-on filter in the US which is very squarish and has decent space to house cheato.
  21. Wouldn't that be trapping a lot of dirt? Why don't you consider doing a hang-on filter fuge mod? Much neater and it doesn't take up precious real estate.
  22. Rats... I knew I should have gotten the Raynox macro lens adapter. Very nice shot, pete! Caught the bugger peeing (or is it honey...?)
