  1. A good hang-on filter would be sufficient, but if you are the type that would religiously perform water changes and siphon dirt off from the tank bottom, you can even do without a filter. Just lights and water movement. Live rocks is a must thought, as they will act as your natural bio filter.
  2. The beauty of ADA tanks is simplicity, so less stuff is better. How will you manage temperature?
  3. If you are limited to having a desktop tank, I would definitely go for ADA. However, if you want a package with display tank, cabinet and sump, you might wanna consider
  4. You need lots of patience to do this. Good stuff.
  5. How big is your tank? If it is small, you might be better off getting an IceProbe. Unless you want the fun of DIY...
  6. That's precisely why you need a decent light set. Assuming your water perimeters are in check, lighting and water movement are the next essential equipment to keep a reef alive.
  7. Good stuff at good prices! Upz for you!
  8. Normal tweezers don't work well, and you will end up pulling your own hair in frustration. You'll need to get those meant for plucking eyebrows. Most cosmetics, beauty shops should have. Watson's have them too.
  9. While we are on this topic, is it necessary to feed it? I don't seem to have any success with this while other corals thrive without issues.
  10. The Yasha and the pistol shrimp may have dug a tunnel in the sand, so don't give up on them yet. They are known to "disappear" for weeks before appearing again.
  11. It's not gonna help. Been there, done that. Instead, you can consider applying a layer of Vaseline on all the metal surfaces, including screws. That will be more effective.
  12. The link works fine for me. There is a slight lag time, so just wait for a little while and it should get there. Welcome to SRC, Michael! I really like the motorized light lifting system. Makes things much easier.
  13. What are your plans for the cabinet? The weight distribution will be different, so the workmanship of the cabinet maker will be critical.
  14. Nice background! Where did you get it?
  15. Tangs are a big NO NO with Fluval Edge. It is too small a tank for them. They need at least 3 ft tanks and above.
  16. Care to share more information on your toy?
  17. Ah... my bad. Its all on pg 2. Quite some work there.
  18. I think the most common dimension is probably 4 x 2 x 2 ft. 2 ft cube would be the next most common dimension. Shallow tanks are getting popular though.
  19. Yes, nice scape. Do you have pics of just the rocks only?
  20. With a tank this size, you are better off doing water changes than skimming.
  21. There are many reefers in the western side of the world who use Fluval Edge tanks just fine. The only issues that you will have to resolve is to get sufficient lighting to reach your corals, and figure out how to keep your tank cool. Otherwise, it is actually a pretty neat concept. Do a Google search on Fluval Edge reef tanks.
