  1. Looks like a goalkeeper guarding the goal... nice!
  2. Wow... your frag tank looks just as good as a display tank! The "branching tree" rock is bearing lots of "fruits" now!
  3. Looks ok... you can position it to point either upwards or towards the front glass once you add corals.
  4. Hi there Ezie. If you are keen on doing research, find out all you can before making any purchases. This will help prevent spending money on equipment that are not suitable for your needs. Since you have purchased the Seio 320, perhaps you could provide more information on your rock scape placement (a photo would be great), whether you have a sand bed or are you going barebottom, and the type of corals you plan to keep? All these will determine the placement of the wavemaker. A general rule of the thumb is if you have minimal or no dead spots (areas with very low or no flow / water movement), and you can keep ditritus suspended in the water column, you are doing good. Most corals generally do not like direct blasts, but laminar flow. Both poomoon and jamomatt have given good ideas on how to deflect direct flow. Getting top notch equipment is wonderful, but do consider if it is within your budget. Many have succeeded even with simple equipment, so plan well and get what you need, not what you want. Cheers!
  5. Very cool... hopefully it gets maintained regularly.
  6. I hope it doesn't create an imbalance in the ecosystem with all this lionfish hunting. Knowing us humans, things can get out of hand if not monitored closely.
  7. Thanks! I picked it up from others as well. I'll post them in the DIY section later.
  8. I'll probably make it a mix reef. May give SPS a try.
  9. Spot on! I like the minimal silicon look.
  10. Thanks for dropping by, Larry! I catered the center section of the filter compartment for the skimmer. Fits the BM NAC 3.5 nicely. I do have some micro bubble issues at present... hopefully it will be gone after it runs in.
  11. Hey hey! It is very difficult to take a good picture with all that shimmering. The LumenAqua Max uses a thick sheet of acrylic to act as a light diffuser, but the LEDs are still very pin-point, hence the shimmer. Quite glaring actually, with the white sand... not sure how long the sand will stay white!
  12. Hey~ I bought this when I was in US. Got it from a LFS there. Was looking for it for some time.
  13. Pleasure's mine, bro! Just sharing what I've learnt.
  14. Last pic of the month... till cycling is complete. Cheers~
  15. Sand, live rocks and "Dum Dum" in the tank. Yes, the tank is officially wet.
  16. I did a simple DIY burrow for the Yashas with PVC elbows, pipe and T-joint. Kneaded and stuck some epoxy to the entrance of the burrow to break the shape so that it doesn't appear too artificially constructed. Glued some sand to the epoxy for added camouflage.
  17. Yo~ My office reef has been expanding for quite a bit, and I find it a little taxing to manage 2 tanks of similar size (one at home), so I decided to downsize. Details of the tank and setup are as follows: Dimensions: 18" x 18" x 12" with 6" IOS (display area = 18" x 12" x 12"), 3-sided crystal glass, 6mm glass thickness Lighting: LumenAqua Max 300 LEDs & 2x CREE Royal Blue LED moonlights. Filtration: Filter wool (mechanical), live rocks, live sand & Biohomme (biological), carbon (chemical) Skimmer: Bubble Magus NAC 3.5 Cone skimmer No skimmer at this present moment Temperature control: Office A/C during office hours, Sunon fan Ice Probe on digital timer during off-office hours and weekends Nutrient export: Cheato, lit by JBJ Nano Glo LEDs (may explore algae scrubber options should there be a need) Auto Top Off: Tunze Osmolator Universal 3155 with reservoir jerry can Wave maker: Ecotech Marine Vortech MP10 Return pump: Ehiem Compact 1000 Dosing plans: Grotech Coral A, B, & C, Brightwell Aquatics Coral Amino, Tropic Marin Iodine, Sodium Ascorbate (as needed) Currently going through cycling. Dosed Prodibio Bio Digest & Bio Tim and dumped a market prawn to kick start the cycle. Stocking plans are a pair of Yasha gobies with randal's pistol shrimp, yellow neon goby, green banded goby, and prolly a Helfrich goby. Clean up crew will consist of nassarius and turbo snails. I might add a hermit and a pom pom crab. Some photos of the tank...
