    Interesting that you've asked. Normally, for fishes with the lower jaw longer than the upper jaw, logically, their bone structure enables the "scooping" effect, so picking up stuff from the substrate should be natural for them. However, my pair ignores the food that falls on the sand bed. They will rush for food that slowly drift down the water column. Of course, the pistol, snails and hermit will take care of the rest.

    I noticed something interesting today. While feeding the fishes, one of the Yashias took some food in its mouth, went back into the burrow and spat it in for the pistol shrimp. All the while, I had the impression that the shrimp would take care of the home and food, while the fishes guarded it. Little did I know that their relationship is deeper than that. Very cool trio!

    Seems like the 2 blue neon gobies I bought yesterday have paired up! Always sticking together in the tank. :o)

      My power supply blew for the nano wave box, so the pair is taking refuge in it. Haven't seen them actively feeding yet, so keeping my fingers crossed. Hope they are not too focused on each other and forgot about food! (-,-)

      Yes, this is in consideration. I'm torn between keeping a sand bed vs bare bottom. Sand bed is for aesthetic purposes as well as for the pistol shrimp. Bare bottom for nutrient control to keep SPS. Decisions decisions...
