  1. I think the thread starter has made a double post. His other thread is
  2. How big is your tank? There is a reefer in Nano-Reef.com (imisky) with a PAR38 & T5s hybrid lighting setup. Here are some photo references from his tank thread.IMO, it is pretty decent for a narrow tank width, but if you have a wider tank, you'll probably need more tubes or LEDs for broader light coverage.
  3. Assuming that it is as powerful as it is stated (2000 l/hr), you will have a tornado in the 1ft cube. Lol... Looks neat though.
  4. I like the minimalist concept. Very nice.
  5. I like your scape... it looks like its gonna be an epic build.
  6. It is too long. You need to manually remove them and the sea hare should take care of the rest. Then again, you might be better off with a sally light foot crab.
  7. The long holiday weekend went by too quickly... >,

Yup! Gonna be another brand new year. I gave the tank a good shave today, and finally packed the house clean of reef related stuff. Clean & neat house = happy Mom = peace & quiet. Lol...

Careful hands with a razor... works wonders on stubborn algae on the glass. :o)

  8. Nice idea on the Y shaped overflow box to hide the Vortech. I couldn't visualize through your description, but a picture is better than a thousand words. You might wanna re-look at your chiller hoses though... the bending seems like it might cause the hose walls to squeeze in and limit the flow. I agree with cool guy on the scaping. With the wow amount of money and effort spent for your setup, you need a wow scaping to complement it. And yes, do consider supplementing your lights with T5s.
  9. Got Purple Death meh? I only see Nuclear Greens... lol.
  10. You're welcomed. Just take note that the learning curve of this hobby can be rather steep if you plunge into it without lots of research. Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt... the only thing in reef keeping that can happen fast with good results is if you are quick in learning.
  11. Why are you still keeping the Dymax clip-on LEDs? It is casting a shadow over your scape and spoiling the aesthetics of your tank.
  12. Clownfishes are not the best swimmers, but they can take on much more powerful wave makers like Vortechs or Tunze, let alone a 350l/hr flow rate... it is obvious that your clown fish died before it got sucked by the pump. Wave makers and pumps work the same way: there is always an inlet and a outlet. They have to draw water in and push it out. Its just like your electric fan, if you cover the back, there will not be any air pushing out.
  13. Wow! Really fast stocking lah. Need to visit you to admire your tank in-person.
  14. Then put this on top of your present one in the display area as a wave maker lor... I can't think of any other pump that has a smaller foot print than this.
  15. Bro, I think even the smallest Polario M4 is too powerful for the IQ5. SK-II, your best option is to get a Tunze Mini as a wave maker (placement - in the display area), or just use it as a return pump.
  16. IME, I still had to go through the diatom phase, so I do not think it is worth the effort to try and "speed things up" when nature still needs to go through its course.
  17. This can vary from tank to tank, reef to reef. If the tank is built by a reputable tank maker, lasting for 10yrs without leaking is no surprise. But if you talk about the reef itself, it is a totally different ball game. Really depends on individual husbandry.
  18. The Tunze mini can fit into the rear compartment of an IQ3, so that should not be a problem. However, you have to be clear and provide more details the next time you post your questions. A Vortech wave maker is like a magnet cleaner that has a dry side that needs to stay out of water, so getting one and trying to fit to the rear compartment is .
  19. Who need hamsters when we have octopussy... lol.
  20. The silicon work on your tank looks pretty good too. Why don't you start a tank thread in the nano section and share with us more details on your setup?
  21. Come on now, Ray! Everyone knows it was your a$$ back there! Lol...
