  1. IMO, I think the OHP stand is too flimsy to sustain the weight of the tank. Feels like a ticking time bomb...
  2. Wow... such beauty... and a great collection of zoas, rics and pratas. Great stuff!
  3. Looking forward to it... And I must say it again... love all the coraline algae growth on your tank.
  4. Just as I hoped for, my rics are growing a little, and they start to cover the rock bonder used to stick them. However, this photo doesn't do them justice. The colours are much better when seen in person.
  5. A close up shot of my diagonal bar goby. They keep pretty still, so its easy to take a picture of them. Poor photography skills lah... plus not a very good camera...
  6. Bah... my skimmer decided to die on me... had to get a replacement. It suddenly stopped producing bubbles after a wash. Can't really complain much, since its a 2nd hand skimmer and I've used it for quite some time. I got the same model from Petmart at a very reasonable price and fired it up today.
  7. Try your best to get rid of all nuisance crabs, mantis shrimp, etc that could be hitchhiking in your live rocks. Quite a few of my firefishes were attacked and died when they were hiding in the rock work. After I caught a crab and a mantis shrimp, I added a new pair of purple firefish, and they have been living happily ever since.
  8. Sneaky little fellas... my hunt will continue until I get every single one of them out of my tank! I almost caught another nuisance crab today... he was waving his pincer at me, hiding behind one of my zoas... that bugger. I'll get him one of these days...
  9. Nice DIY project! I'm interested at how you're gonna hide those PVC pipes as well... If you add tiny holes along the pipes and put a compact power head, you can have good flow even within your rock work. Looking forward to your tank progress!
  10. I managed to pick a few out with a pair of sharp tweezers. I still can't really tell whether they are flatworms or not, but its just brownish in colour.
  11. A damsel taking down your lionfish...? Is that even possible? How big are both fishes when it happened?
  12. Yup! Will do. If only someone invented some kind of reef safe insecticide...
  13. Wow... you have sharp eyes... I still can't tell from the pics, but I will do a thorough spot check tmr. Thanks for the early warning!
  14. Thank you for your advice! As for the worm, I'm not sure if its still there... should be able to track it by looking at the tunnels...
  15. I noticed this interesting creature borrowing in my sand bed. Some kind of worm. Anyone care to ID?
  16. Royal gramma... one of the smallest I could find in AM. Saw it swimming upside down on purpose while feeding when I first spotted it.
  17. Bought a few rics from Irwana's recent shipment... quite poor at sticking them to the rocks, so used quite a bit of rock bonder. Looks a little untidy right now... hope the rics grow big enough to cover the mess. The orange one at the bottom left is my old ric recovering from bleaching.
  18. I did a check on my chaeto today, and it has pretty much recovered. Most of the portion that was trimmed off has grown back, green and fluffy. However, it is still in a rather cramped place with the basket limiting its growth. Need to remove some once in awhile.
  19. Yes, I was looking at AM (JK) today, but they do not have any in stock. Ah Beng's have very nice huge shells, but of course, comes with the "house" owner... I have yet to check on the progress of the chaeto, would most likely take a look tmr (office tank mah). I was wondering... is there such a thing as being too cold a tank? With the fan and air-con on, the temperature goes to 23 deg C. Everything in my display seems to be doing fine though...
  20. I like your assorted mushrooms rock. I saw a few in GO yesterday, and was tempted to get one, but they are quite huge, and couldn't fit into my tank.
  21. These are sound advice, and I can't agree more on pts 5 to 7. Given a choice, I would make sure every single rock in my tank is thoroughly scanned for any pests. Its a search & destroy operation worth your while. I know it can be quite a pain to perform maintenance of a marine tank, and mine is not even 1/8 of your tank size. However, the satisfaction of setting things right and the sense of accomplishment after a hard day's work cannot be compared to others doing it for you. Well... I guess its the benefits of having really deep pockets... hehe...
