But it is being used widely as evident from the range of products available and one of the main reasons is the removal of yellow water and DOC. So I guess it is a matter of preference for each reefer.

I use the add tank water to bag method with good results. Every 15 to 20 mins I add tank water into the bag. If bag is full, i transfer to 1 feet tank. I add until the 70 - 90 % of the water is actually my tank water then i put into my tank inside a floating cage. The cage is just in case my maroon clown 'dislikes' the new addition....

It depends on your tank's needs as well as your dosing habits. The carbon will remove both good and bad 'impurities'. For example, I think you are not suppose to run carbon if dosing iodine or some other additives and medicine

Your question is very difficult to answer since we never really know whether the bacteria is alive or dead after dips/soaks. However, coralrx will not kill corals so it may be 'milder' on some organisms than freshwater? I usually kill my worms with freshwater soak. I don't mind bacteria dying as they will repopulate back. Note that dead bacteria will not kill your tank, but release of toxins like hydrogen sulphite?? from DSB and deoxygenated live rocks will...
