  1. Hi Desi and Ketchup, Sorry to hear about the PBRT but how do you know that the fish is not eating at all? One of my fish doesn't eat when I am in front of the tank...
  2. Bro, you can try terrorist tactics... since tell them you changed your mind now and you want a brand new 8ft tank in the house liao! Then slowly compromise back to the 2ft.
  3. Resun CL650 manufacture date sometime in 2005 i think it is consider old model. I am thinking of giving up on it since it is clearly beyond my means to repair and I don't want to spend money to get it inspected only to give up due to repair costs... The part where I saw the melted wire insulation is at the plastic power connector at the end of the circuit board in my photos. Only one of the red wires was affected.
  4. Update : 1. The fuse in the picture is confirmed burnt liao. However, last night I managed to continue testing other components by shorting the fuse. 2. The display, thermostat and probe is working. I powered it up and it can read the temperature and 'start' the chiller and heater lights correctly depending on the temperature settings. 3. The fan does not react to the thermostat's control. 4. The compressor does not seem to react to the thermostat's control. (I am assuming the compressor will make sound in addition to the fan's noise) 5. The burnt smell probably came from a piece of wire with the insulation slightly melted.... So it looks like either the compressor or the fan is gone.... No point repairing?
  5. Does this look like a burnt fuse? But burnt fuse should not give out burnt smell right? My untrained eyes think that the control panel and thermostat (I am assuming that the thermostat is here and not in the reservoir) looks normal. What do you think?
  6. Any chance we can get our pms back? I sent out two pms like 30 minutes before the upgrade started... Don't think the other parties got to read them...
  7. Sian.. I am an equipment noob. I removed the casing and removed the circuit board. But I can't figure out what is burnt. 1. The fuse looks opaque so I am assuming that is gone. But blown fuse shouldn't give out smell right? 2. The circuit broad looks fine, can't tell if it is burnt. 3. The other parts looks oily and dirty but I can't tell if they are okay. Anyway, I can test the individual parts without getting electrocuted or burning down my house?
  8. I just got in touch with Derek as recommended by others, based on the description, he thinks it is the thermostat that was fried ( and may even have taken out the fuse along with it....) I have an option of replacing it with an external thermostat that cost more than what I paid for the chiller. May not be a bad deal since a lot of bros do recommend using the ext one anyway.... He gave me instructions on how to check whether it was the thermostat... will check tonight.
  9. Last night I heard a 'pop' sound coming from the chiller and the led panel went black. I also detected the burnt rubber/plastic smell. I quickly disconnected it from the power socket. I am hoping that I just blew a fuse or something simple shorted out. I just got it 2nd hand from here about one month ago.
  10. Hi bros, I need to get my resun chiller repaired. Anyone with contacts to share/recommend?
  11. Just try to wait for the fish to sleep. But you really need to catch it. As for physical removal, I used a pair of pincers to do it. I tried pulling lightly but the bugger refused to let go so I went plan B. Using the pincer, I squeezed the pod's body repeatedly until I can gently take it off the fish. Remember the idea is not to kill it immediately but to stress it into loosen the grip. Note: No wound when I did this.
  12. Sound like a parasite if it is clinging to your fish. I would catch the fish and pick the bugger off....
  13. Hmmm.. I don't have that...will have to look into plugging those holes then.
  14. Hi bro, Just curious, do you have another layer of backing to prevent water from falling through the holes?
  15. My scrubber is exactly like james' in concept and I am using the same plastic screen. But instead of roughing up the screen, i "add" roughness with a plastic fabric-like webbing over the surface of the screen so that the algae grows on the webbing. I have been cleaning every 7 days and getting dark, thick slime of it. No turf at all... Will switch to 5 day cleaning now... hope I can see reduction of algae in my display soon.
  16. What are you talking about? I am pointing out that the photo shows that the box is definitely available at aquamarin. I saw it while i was there a couple of days ago as well. Just didn't know it was a new product at that time.
  17. If you look closely, you can see aquamarin's shelves and frozen food freezer in the background! The photos were taken at the counter i think.
  18. Hi Fuel, Need to know where to collect before deciding. Need to bring my own container or bag?
  19. Hi Fuel, Can't you use your pods to feed the babies you are breeding? Isn't that the point of breeding pods? I would love to have some pods in my tank.
  20. In the argument, i think SM missed my question...... Anyway, I cleaned my screen 1 - 2 days after that and the screen is in the same state again now. But i don't see "turf" algae still. I only have film algae... Any advice?
  21. Hi bro SM, Should I be cleaning this? Happy New Year and many cheers to you!
  22. Let's talk about fish. I went to LCK yesterday and saw lots of small yellow tangs. Thought of buying one but they look really skinny. End up chicken out....
  23. I asked the question before. the answer i got was algae also need rest! Dunno whether it was a joke.... Thanks Sea_urchin and eniram for the reflector recommendations. I have been looking for it forever I am using foil to cover my bulb now.
  24. Any bros in Singapore found a reflector we can use for the scrubber light?
