  1. Nitrates don't boom over night, they slowly accumulate till you get 80ppm. You are using NSW for water change? Did you measure the NO3 in the NSW?
  2. I'll say go and take a deep breath in thailand.
  3. When you buy that time you check the specs. I don't have the exact model off hand. When you look at the flow curve the one with highest head but lower max flow will be the pressure rated one. Where do you intend to get the MX-100? Budget airline to HK and hand carry back?
  4. Nevermind... if no life in it. As long as don't leach nutrients I am happy
  5. Suggestion is to get the high flow version of the MX100 for return and pressure rated version for beckett.
  6. cool, very soon this will also work as a CR
  7. So you change water only this weekend. Sugar methods also requires a more powerful skimmer than your skimmer so probably that is not a good idea.
  8. I think the bulk order will be close only on 23rd Sept so you could still order 2x50ml
  9. arrrgghhhh.......... busy looking for budget airline to Germany
  10. This time FOC for you. Getting too fat, later cannot pass IPPT lol. Taking electrical cost as 18.26 cents/kwh One month = 30 days MH power consumption 750watts Daily running hrs 6hrs Power consumption 4.5kwh running cost/month $24.651 T5 power consumption 400watts Daily running hrs 12 hrs Power consumption 4.8kwh running cost/month $26.2944 MX-100 power consumption 600watts Daily running hrs 24hrs Power consumption 14.4kwh running cost/month $78.8832 additional 500W MH power consumption 500watts Daily running hrs 3hrs Power consumption 1.5kwh running cost/month $8.217 total = $138.0456 Chiller probably around $40 for your tank so around $200.
  11. Best way is to perform water changes. 25% each time. after 10 times you should get around 6ppm. This is assuming no more NO3 produced and your new seawater has 0ppm nitrates. 1 80 2 60 3 45 4 33.75 5 25.3125 6 18.984375 7 14.23828125 8 10.67871094 9 8.009033203 10 6.006774902 You should look into the root cause of your high NO3 after you lower your NO3. If not they will came back to haunt you soon.
  12. List down all your equipments and I can calculate for you Ryan must be very busy since he got married recently.
  13. The specs says. At 0ft head both MX100 and MX70 consume same power. At the same head (not 0ft), MX100 able to give more flow at higher power consumption compared to the MX70. Sorry no baby bonus, lower consumption but higher flow in real life situation.
  14. Step two of my project BB - removal of egg crate. Currently curing the new LR. Kindly donated from one kind reefer. Zeolith in used to prevent ammonia built up. Planning to cure/cook for about 2 months.
  15. If you design your piping to minise head lost then there is no need to use pressure rated pumps. Use the more efficient flow pump (eg Red Dragon, MX-40RX etc). You pay lesser for electricity.
  16. 340W is for 60W. At 50Hz which is our frequency here the max power consumption if I remember correctly is 250W. Those are at 0ft head. In real situation we run about 6-8ft head lost depending on the actual piping and that power consumption is much lower, remember roidan tong his MX100 driving his beckett and gets lower than 200W.
  17. I scared nothing to skim lol. Hopefully I can get my hands on the C-V soon so can start seeing my acros feeding.
  18. There you go. http://www.iwakiwalchem.com/iwaki/Literatu...X/MX70specs.pdf For your return pump, have you considered the iwaki too? MD40R(X) sounds like good deal and is pretty cheap (less than SG$300) in HK. Have you heard of iwaki breaking down? Yes maybe after many years of operation. http://www.iwakiwalchem.com/iwaki/Literatu..._WMD/MD3040.pdf
  19. Micro bubbles due to water coming down from overflow box can be solved easily.
  20. You can always start a poll. Hmmm... dried rowaphos is also dark colored right?
  21. Maybe your eyes already tuned for the 20kk so it takes time for your eyes to tuned back to the new BLV14kk. I saw the BLV14kk 250W DE fired up at ML and it is very white. The 14kk might be brighter so that might cause the acros to bleach if you didn't reduce the lighting hrs or move the lights higher. This is the same when you change out old bulbs.
