1/2" of livesand was added followed by 50+kg of LR. Initial landscaping. Noticed the pump on the left used for internal circulation while I get the tunze.

added 4 more bags of grade 1 sand. wash in the toilet. Total depth of sandbed is 4"(grade 0)+2"(grade 1) Sorry for mis-focus picture cos too tired by then.

All the rust I picked out from 12 bags of grade 0 and 4 bags of grade 1 sand. Super shiong, did that till 6am.

Here's the progress of my 4ft tank. Setup started on 19th Dec 2003 12 bags of grade 0 sand was pour directly into the tank, washing done in the tank.

my tank is 4x2x2.5 but with 6" DSB.

I put in 3 pc but after 2 days still nothing happen, no smell, ammonia alert "sleeping". Then I dump in many pcs and the next day ammonia alert "wake up" and water turns smelly. Now left about 4-5 pcs in the tank, they are about 1cm size, not too big. I think still lesser meat compared to one big prawn.

At pH of less than 7.0 only ammonium (which is not poisonous) exist. At pH from 7.0 onwards ammonia is formed which is toxic. That is why for freshwater aquarium, you can throw in fish before the fish tank if fully cycled and no fish will die. Marine has pH higher than 7.0 so the ammonia is super toxic.

IMOH super disgusting. I got rid of all the giant bristle and left the smaller ones alone. The white/orange pieces are market prawn that is used to cycle the tank. Put in too many end and the water starts to be smelly and seachem ammonia alert is on alert so I removed a few pcs and left some in the tank. Hopefully cycling can be over soon with the livesand from maxima.

I bought a 2nd hand TW6 and there is no manual that comes with it. I can only find the RA680's manual on the TECO website. The setting are different from the TW6 so I cannot use that manual. I did not want to trial and error since this is quite an expansive piece of equipment. Can anyone help, I need to know how to set the temperature and differential setpoint (how many deg C the compressor cut-in and out). Thanks.

if I already drill a small hole above the waterline, do I still need a check valve for the return pipe? I've actually tested and the siphon is broken after I turn off the return pump simulating a power failure.

supposed to put the stones in before media but if you forget then just drop it in, no problem cos the rocks will drop to the bottom.
