Like to add that the noise is totally acceptable to me! If you're afraid of the noise then go for the 1/3hp non-commerical unit, sure very silent. Gonna save a lot on the electrical bills man!

Specification of the chiller. Only 1/2hp. Temp drop = 1.2deg in 1 hr. This is with full heat load on my tank. 2x250W 10,000K BLV 1x150W 20,000K BLV blue 2x36W PL 1xresun MD55 driving my AquaC EV-240 1xehiem 1260 driving my UV sterilizer + CR 2x6100 Tunze 1x6000 Tunze 1x36W 12x coralife turbo twister UV sterilizer The other half will be really delighted once I get the bracket and hang this unit remotely. phew!

Temp controller, length of cable is 10m so you can put this chiller really far away from the tank and can have the temp controller besides the tank. Best of all, the power cable is attached to the probe so more convenient to plug into the power point at the tank. Less wiring headache. Seems like it is so much more easier than I thought to locate this chiller remotely. oh Bro Roidan, I've no time to read the manual yet, will do so later.

Actually I got the price of the Korean OEM and the prices are not too much difference. I see that the main difference is in the cooling coil??? I don't care so much already, as long as this 1/2hp works well for my tank can already. Afterall the main reason for the upgrade is to be able to hang it outside the house so I don't get complains everyday. You know the other party complain here and there end up the chiller, eventually the tank will be an eyesore, you never know if someone pours household bleach into your tank when you're away Then come back all LS die and she act blurr.

A rowaphos reactor supposed to keep the media suspended so you have max contact area and there is not "channels" developed as compared to using a filter bag or putting it in the canister filter. It is thru this action that helps extends the life of the media.

That one very good deal but I was not sure if it is 100% the same eg like cool coil might be different, customer service etc so I just play safe and go with the Artica. Hope no more upgrade of chiller after this.

looks like the performance of the artica has to be seen to be believed. The other factor is customer service which has yet to be proven. ie chiller spoilt and how fast is the turn around time for 1-2-1 exchanger, T-loan unit while unit is repair, repair etc.

I have the tall version of Joe_P's CR. When I had just one frag + 2 colony one bubble in every 7 sec can keep my Ca level steady. Now I'm pumping in at one bubble every 2.5 sec to keep the Ca level steady after they start to grow. I was still wondering why my Ca and kH levels are dropping so fast until I noticed the encrusting and go compare photos then I see the growth. Cannot imagine if I do not have this CR, I will be dosing the Ca & kH addictive like crazy and the water parameter will be going up and down lol and if I go away for a week then confirm big problem man.

Interesting question, lol. I got 8 colony and a few other frags either donated kindly by some kind brothers or accidentally broke from the main colony I bought. But if they ask abt tank ready and I tell them 3 months plus automatically become not ready right?

I can't seems to find a healthy colony for sale so bo piang, those that can grow in other reefer's tank must be good. Joe_P will only sell (if he going to sell the frag) if you can proof that your tank is SPS ready. Looks like I got no chance. So far all my attempts to buy frag from other reefers has ended in failure. hiak...

my choice of the commerical unit was because it looks like a normal air-con unit and allows you to mount it outside the house like a normal air-con. That is one of the main reason I am changing the chiller. It would be strange to mount my 1.25hp Ti chiller outside the house right? guess what would someone feel when he saw a HDB flat with such a chiller outside? somemore that is not meant to be use outside the house.

got my electrical bill.... $220, up again from $180. Wife is screaming again. Glad to know this chiller runs only 1/2 the time compared to your new chiller. I will up my tank temp to 26.5degs from 25.0 degs + the new chiller shorter running time should be able to cut the electrical bills by a bit. Let's see how it goes.

Max, I supposed the wattage you posted is the power consumption of the chiller. The wattage printed on the brochure is the rated cooling power?
