Declare Battel against ICH
weileong replied to Kotobuki's topic in Disease treatment/parasite/pest control
yes everything except fishes as the ich uses the fishes to complete it's life cycle... once you remove all the fishes then you disrupt the life cycle of the ich and after more than 2 full cycle you can declare your tank ich free provided no more new parasites are introduced into the tank. -
IanJ I do have something similar, purple/pink body with blue tips milepora but it is still 1" size but growing a lot of tips now so maybe in 6-8months time can spare you one frag if you don't mind it is not exactly the same chio one you looking for.

Cool down folks..... we're all here to reef, exchange ideas and learn. No point reading too much into the post and then start shooting each other. Stanley, race course rd laska on me hor. Alan, Jalan Kayu prata on me lar. Vincent, nothing for you, sorry

Declare Battel against ICH
weileong replied to Kotobuki's topic in Disease treatment/parasite/pest control
Remove every single fish and leave the main tank fishless. If you don't get the dotty out then it won't be fishless. I would go the fishless route instead of hypo for main tank. Then hypo QT with the fishes instead. -
Declare Battel against ICH

If you leave your main tank fishless for 8 weeks then you can effectively stop the life-cycle of the parasite. No need to resort to hypo or copper. -
Why worry when RO/DI would get rid of the bromide? In fact I would worry abt bromide from the salt mix instead. Now you'll see reefers hunting for Turbo snails at the seaside
-
Because it is not hosted in local ISP
-
waiting for your lab test results for PO4 Remember to ask them what method they used for measuring the PO4 directly.
-
bingo, that's the one.
-
Dazza, do you have a photo? I have one that hitchhike from LR in my tank and now grown to abt 1 - 1.5" size, got a lot of off-spring somemore. The shape does look like Turbo sandwicensis but I cannot confirm without any clearer photo. The shell has a lot of dark brown "dots" => more like short rectangular shapes on it.
-
wait wait both of you are
-
I knew one guy here that battle it for 4 months and with ultra low PO4 (0.02 hanna) still could not get rid of it. In the end he tear down his tank and restart with fresh LR. Good luck IanJ, keep us posted.

maybe buy a few more blue tang
-
IanJ would appreciate if you would have the chance soon to check out the ballast. Judging from the size of the reflector, looks more like it's using MV ballast instead which overdrives the MH bulb and that's why giving the whiter cast from the phoenix.
-
hey IanJ can give more details on the STM pendant? More interested in the ballast actually.

That could be Asparagopsis taxiformis which is nicknamed "Algae from hell" Reading from my Algae book by Julian Spring. He says to use manual removal and also bilological control like Diadema Urchin and Seaslug like Aplysia and Hermaea. From RC they say it feeds on bromide. Go PR and look at their display tank, they have tons of it in there. Tangs and rabbit fishes don't touch it.

Got meat to eat??? I tot just skin only, will be really interesting to see how they are prepared.

Scarab, I agree with you hor, life is very difficult here man. You tok tok a bit and then someone will shoot you from some other place. But also good lar the person can no longer post here Like that reefing where got meaning Sorry sorry I am again

pooorrrr pooooff..... We should look at the basic of SPS reefing, using zeovit makes you no different from any other method. If you using more conventional ways of reefing, if STN occurs what would you do and what information would you request to know? There are too many factors and sometimes quite difficult to pinpoint the cause too. I already stated some of the more common things to watch out for especially when one is using zeovit as that is what many zeovit users faced (from feedback) in one of my earlier reply in this thread of bro YzF, maybe he missed it.

Rocket science? Then how you know it can measure molecula I don't deal with PE but ours is direct competitor.

Wat is this grey patch on sand?

Cyano aka "Red carpet ", welcome to the club. -
YzF, like I said, STN can be caused by many factors. Zeovit recommends and it is important to keep your parameters near to NSW levels. Most reefers tends to run their kH ard 9-10 and even if you let the kH drop it also never fall to the dangerous levels that might cause STN. However with people using zeovit is that they fail to watch their kH properly and let it crash and beca use the kH is ard 7 so it can easily fall to dangerous levels and later cause STN. The other reason is ionic imbalance or running parameters that are too high. Another reason is zeo stuffs overdose. As you did not measure those parameters during that time and unable to feed us the information so it is difficult to figure out what was the problem. That is what I meant by insufficient information to help you.

That's part of my job to deal with all these machines. Just relating based on my knowledge as ICP ionise the sample before burning it and splitting the light with diffraction grating. By measuring the intensity of the P emission line you will be able get the intensity only. You will still need two standard sample to make a calibration curve for P before quantative analysis can be done. From what I know ICP is just element analyzer based on the measuring principle. Maybe your company's ICP is different from what I know that's why it is able to measure molecular, do you know which manufacturer it comes from?
-
Using ICP might not give you the complete picture of the PO4 concentration. In the sense that ICP measures P and this will include organic as well as inorganic PO4 and other stuffs that might contain P. This is like trying to measure the room temperature by measuring the time it takes for the ice cream to melt. However it's still way better choice than our plain old test kits HPLC or IC are better choice as you can measures the PO4 directly.
