  1. my tank water depth is also 12" and I using 150W BLV 10K. The bulb is abt 6" off the water surface. Cooling using AC fan. Temp around 27-28degC. But need to constantly top up water. This is my experience. Before that I also have many pple telling me that with my tank it will overheat. Now I can see my calms growth growth growth
  2. that was from my freshwater planted tank that tear apart last weekend. Initially thought of using it for dosing CO2 for a DIY calcium reactor, cos had got a FBF too so can modify a little into a calcium reactor.
  3. thanks for all the tips. I will wait for my new 4ft to be setup then I implement all these. I managed to find the bodies of 3 out of the 4 clowns that died. 2 of them the bodies as usual become fainter in color. The 3rd one has some transparent slimmy stuff coated on it. Not sure what it is. Any diagnosis on that? Another method that I would like to try would be to use my pH controller, once detect the pH less than 8.1 then start to dose kawasser then stop when pH reaches 8.3.
  4. hi, Thanks for the tips. how do you dose just at night, don't tell me you activate the dosing manually? If I go travelling then this manual method cannot work already. Gotta solved this before introduce anymore fishes.
  5. Is there a relationship between Mg and pH? I will get a test kit for Mg. I don't dose kalkwasser, thought of doing it but worried it might push the pH higher up the lights are on.
  6. My dkh currently at 10 dkh pH just before lights on is 7.7. pH just before lights off is 8.5 Lost 4 (all my clownfish) on Saturday night and I suspecting they die due to the pH swing. They also came down with ich. I suspect it is due to the stress induced by the pH swing. No more fishes for the next 2 months. Don't want them to die. Corals and shunk shrimps are doing fine. No Casulty for the past 2 months except the clownfish. Any idea to help? Water volume is 80 litres, running on 150W MH with BLV 10K bulb. Cooling with AC fan, temp between 27-28degs. NH3 = 0 NO2 = 0 NO3 = 10ppm.
  7. Done the full marathon in 1988, that time you've it every year in Dec and either mobile or singapore international marathon alternatively each yr. After that went for NS then become very lazy. Now struggling to pass the 2.4KM (IPPT) every year Oh they print your name on the cert during that time. And the time you took to complete the marathon as well.
  8. tap water reading might not be ph 7. Try recalibrate your sensor like the rest have suggested.
  9. Still sourcing for my tank and already know a few tank maker but to play safe like to know where you got your tank from. Any review or experience pls let me know. PM reply will be fine too. Thnaks.
  10. You can buy them from the "Ah pek" plant shop in Lor Harlus. I bought mine more than 3 yrs ago, I think with the regulator and 5L CO2 tank it cost me less than $200. I saw it for sale at a few LFS at paris ris too.
  11. my new tank going to be 4ft so maybe 3x250 is a bit overkill right? Not going for SPS reef else wait pocket burn too much. Still sourcing for my 4ft right now bcos just sold my 4ft freshwater tank. Where do you put up? Got chance let me go see in person then start to dream lol.

  14. where did you buy the CO2 bottle? If the normal black/silver 5l type then you can just swap 1-2-1 on the spot and pay $15 for the CO2.
  15. once the tank is sold then can sell the canister to you. Cos now still got fish in the tank.

  18. Paris Ris, near mainland.
  19. Since it is non-pen type. You can try this. I assume yours has a removable pH probe. With the meter power off, remove the probe. Short the connector on the meter side with a wire. Remember to do the above with the power off else you risk frying the op-amp. Turn the meter on. Check the reading. Should give you near 7.0 If the reading is still jumpy that means the meter spoilt already. If the reading is stable then the probe is defective. Probably connection is bad. Higher chance that the meter is defective. If you probe allows you to replace the internal solution which is usually KCL and sometimes AgCL then replace it. If your probe is old you can try to soak it in warm water abt 60degs for 20mins and stirring the probe slowly in the warm water, this will dissolve the stuffs stuck to the liquid junction on the probe. If this still fails get 1% diluted HCL and soak the probe. If still cannot use then you can throw the probe away. BTW when the probe is not in use, best to keep in soak in KCL or AgCL depending on the internal solution of the probe.
  20. I was very angry with them. I am a frequent visitor there and I help out at the shop at the omni theatre and the security there should recognise me. I also help out at the observatory when there is observation session going on. Yes I carry the small betta tank but the moment I step into the building they already shouted at me already, I was nowhere even near to the tank. Shouted so loud somemore. Made me totally felt like I lost my face. At least if they see me put my hands into the tank then okie can say I try to steal something but then you see their tank all the cheap coral, where got pple want? Don't tell me you walk around in the HDB carpark means you want to steal car? End up I complain to the assistance director of Science Center last Friday when we had dinner. I think they get some scolding. I am very glad you and your wife like the tank so much. Ya even if I know ML selling for $45 I will still give away A lot of the guys want to take then backed out last min, I think they very regret lol.
  21. Your refugium nicer looking than my planted tank Glad the crab has found a good home. BTW I got someone to "screw" up the security guards
