  1. Yes that's my daughter Always use her as an excuse for fish tank. Educate the children heheh, good for them so need to setup fish tank!
  2. see what I removed from 16 bags of sand. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...ndpost&p=108397
  3. yes brackish water fish but possible to convert to full saltwater. I just wonder why no one is using them to cycle the tank instead of using those damsel.
  4. Algae rocks are just LR with algae on it!
  5. My advise is to add in like 75% of what you think you need first. Because corals will come with LR so after all your corals are in it will be just nice. I happened to be able to speak some one senior reefer here and with his advise I bought less than what I need and now stocking up with corals and will seems to be just sufficient when my tank is fully stocked with corals.
  6. I've two fire goby, one red and one purple. Been with me for more than 2 weeks. The red one is quite active, swims around and can the see fin pointing high high at times. During feeding time also come out to eat. The purple one is hiding 99.9% of the time. Once in a while during feeding time can see it come out of the rock work but did not come and eat. Still surviving now. Wonder if I should buy a few more so perhaps in a group they feel more secure? I noticed the red and purple one sleeps together at night.
  7. shouldn't a good protein skimmer be the most cost effective solution in the long run? Buy once and use until it die which might outlast your reef tank. Using all these filters need to always replace which cost more in the long run.
  8. most places I go seems to sell at same price.
  9. you can use human waste also Or can just add ammonia chloride directly then no need market prawn and then won't get the stinko smell.
  10. Check this thread Added Rowaphos and overnight PO4 dropped to zero. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...ndpost&p=128883 Quite a lot of LFS selling it, ML,PR,OP etc etc. Oh not to forget Emund also selling.
  11. actually if you read part2 that is without the MH running it takes abt 6 hrs to raise the temp 1.8 degs. I think I do not need further test anymore after I see the results today. Once again confirm the chiller is great Guess I did made the right decision afterall. I also glad I did this test else I still "sleeping" thinking everything is good. But now I know if not end of the month the electical bills come I will cry.
  12. Part 3. Time Chiller temp 21:15 26.5 Compressor ON 21:19 26.6 21:22 26.7 21:28 26.8 recording stop 2x250MH Off 22:43 26.0 22:46 25.9 22:51 25.8 22:57 25.7 23:02 25.6 23:08 25.5 23:13 25.4 23:18 25.3 23:24 25.2 23:30 25.1 23:35 25.0 Compressor OFF 23:38 24.9 23:39 24.8 23:42 24.7 23:46 24.6 Tme taken to chill 1.9 degs = 2hrs 20min Based on part 2 test earlier today it should take abt 6hrs+ before the compressor will run again. Remember in part 2, there is 2 hrs after the 2x250W MH turns on before the temp raised up to 26.5degs (compressor kicks in). Combined with the results from part 2 test we get. Run time of 3hrs 14min (part 2) + 2hrs 20mins (part 3) = 5 hrs 34mins. So without the 2 submersed pumps we cut the run time needed by 4hrs. Quite a lot of difference! This is almost like 50% difference. I've to start my skimmer running so have to end the test but this is a good indication of how much heat($$$$$$) those pumps throw into the water. I know that pumps introduce heat but didn't know it makes so much difference!!!
  13. rid-rust would only work when the iron stand has rusted. What happens if in future the stand rot at some place where you cannot see it or not accessable then you need to tear down the whole tank and get a new stand. So do it right once and for all.
  14. after the brown ones you're get the green ones Then after that if you can keep the water parameters good then considered tank matured.
  15. even if you have a sump you still need a power head to drive the weipro
  16. I got a chao tar 6530 sitting here going to throw away. Not sure if you can get anything useful from it. If you need just let me know else I throw tomorrow already.
  17. dechlorinised only get rid of the Cl and does nothing to the silica. Don't expect the Rowaphos to do magic
  18. I guess this is more for freshwater tank use. I used it once before and it will help to lump the small particles together and help to make your water crystal clear. Other than that, like no effect one.
  19. Its Silica Dioxide. If you use Rowaphos then it will absorb them. The SiO2 caused/are food for the diatoms which are the browns stuffs he's referring to.
  20. any pump that can meet the required flow rate will work.
  21. Sorry to hear about it. "If your clown is near it will take a while for it to get used to the new tank." I actually meant "If the clown is 'new'. Dunno why a lot of typo nowadays.
  22. No idea, pls call and check. If you find out pls let me know. I doubt they have any new stock.
  23. Singapore so small I still dunno where he stay lol. Or can meet at AT's place when I go collect the Carbon and Kalk
