-
got regret or not? Wow like that don't even buy any car until the COE is $1 lol.... Just imagine abt 9yrs back it is going for $100k for luxury cars.

10-20ppm difference in the Ca reading might seems small to you. However if you're not aware that translates to a 1.4 to 2.8dkh changes in kH. Most of us would try to keep the kh within a stable limit probably less than +/-0.5dkh but if we were to use your method to measure the Ca then how do you know if the calcification rate has changed or if one should retune his CR. By using a kH test kit (if you're running a CR) would be the right way to check if you should retune your CR. BTW tropic Marin CR test kit don't requires you to count drop. Just reads off the syringe.

No lar, rescaping and seems like that pc not going to fit into the new scape. Don't talk like that if not later I get a lot of PMs lol. -
My system runs under zeovit and this is already bacterial driven based system. I do not run rowaphos at all. Before I went BB, I already been running zeovit for 9 months and most of the nutrients in the rocks has been removed. What is left is nutrients leaching out from the DSB. Once the DSB was removed, the nutrients level just head south. There were a few reefers that went BB recently and all seeing better results than the days they were with the DSB.
-
When I went BB and w/o cooking, no problems at all. However I do noticed that the rocks shred a lot in the first few weeks. For my case, my rocks are quite clean to begin with. IMO having a SSB is worst than a DSB or BB as can't keep it clean nor do you have the advantage of DSB to process some of your nutrients.

The pin-point Ca monitor uses ISE which is very unstable especially for the particular application of monitoring Ca in a enviroment with a lot of interferring ions. You could try by dipping the probe into a small container with water from your main tank, take the reading. Then dip it in freshwater, take the reading, then repeat it all over again for a few times. The error margin is too big and not good enough to know if the CR needs to be tune up or down as in real life situation the kH would be fluctuating too much. My advise, to totally skip it. Not all electronic garget are accurate enuff to be used in the reef tank.

Should we form a TANG CLUB?
weileong replied to akahoshi's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
reduce aggression can try mirror + rescape. That will confused the old birds too but guess not many pple will want to do that. -
sorry, mine in my FOWLR. I inexperienced with the trigger so dump into the FOWLR for testing first. So far my pink tail seems to be a good citizen (but no character), the black trigger like I said very fun to watch. I think he is too bored.
-
where to collect and how fat is the fish? means top down view how "thick" is the fish? How long you had kept it?
-
They also like to carry your LR (small little pc) ard, then drop it down. Then carry the same pc and drop it down another corner again. Very interesting to watch lol.

all the pumps, lights, equipments etc etc that you run in your tank adds heat into the water. Your chiller have to work against them. You try turn off everything and sure the chiller can chill down the water.
-
some pple say their chiller can cool their tank. some pple with the same chiller say it can't cool their tank. both tank same net volume. why? because one tank has lesser heat input than the other. but only 150W and the chiller cannot support already? Maybe try to service the chiller.
-
When they say recommended for "that volume" you've to see how they tested it? I believe they run the chiller with "that volume" of water then set it to drop to a certain temp within a certain amount of time. This is w/o any head load taken into account. Your chiller is too weak to support your tank. Go for a better one.

kH 6.7 looks fine and is close to NSW. What's the kH you're targetting?

You want big then you want to work harder

For zeovit system you can approach ocean planet or Paradise Reef. Both are distributors of the zeovit system, Paradise Reef seems to have better stock for the various zeovit stuffs. DE has the local version of the luminarc, you can approach him at the sponsor forum. The luminarc gives very good spread and you get good coverage in your tank. Reefaholic is selling his zeovit reactor at good price so you might want to PM him. If you want to venture into SPS it's highly recommend that you read up more, try out LPS first, SPS keeping is also known as the big money pit or vaccum where you keep pumping in money non-stop. Quite high addictive, that's why sometimes you see pple trying to sell 1 small little frag for $5 or something like that.

There is a mis-conception about the zeovit system as many people has failed to understand how to implement it properly. There are some that had tried and gave up for whatever reasons but mainly has to do with failure to control the dosage properly. There is a online forum delicated for zeovit system at http://www.zeovit.com which you can find out more information from there. Remember, any reefing method would allow you to achieve results provided you implement it properly.
