  1. Oh yes there is a type of chemical that you can used to spray to clean the fins. Those in the aircon industry should know. When you send your car airco for servicing they also clean it with those chemical. Just wondering if it's safe to use on our chillers.
  2. Yes the fins are very impressive. But the more impressive thing you've to do is to stand in front of the chiller and feel the fan (16w)blowing. It is very strong, can even feel it when you stand 5m away. I think it is the strong fan + large fins that gives the high efficiency. I noted that the cooling coils in this chiller has small volume compared ot the one in the 1.25hp Titanium. Sometimes larger doesn't meant better The chiller started running at 19:03hrs and temp was 27.2 deg C. It stopped at 19:15hrs and temp was 26.6 deg C. The HY cannot be set and defaults to 1 deg F (abt 0.66 deg C). This is with my main (650W) MH running. The resolution for the temp sensor is 0.2 deg C. I had calibrate (OT = -1.4 deg C) the temp sensor to match the thermometer reading in my tank. This was not mentioned in the manual for the commerical chiller but mentioned in the manual of the aquarium chiller. I just give it a try and it worked. Just follow the manual by pressing the "up" and "down" button at the same time and hold for 10sec. Then just set the OT and wait a few sec and you're done. Everything seems cool except for the noise which is a little noisy but on par with all my pumps running, MD55 + oceanfree 9000. The noise will not be an issue once I shift the chiller remotely. I also measured the different in the temp of the water going into and coming out of the chiller, different is 1.5 deg This is with abt 3000 litres flow rate. No wonder so fast chill down.
  3. Enough of the chiller. This is more interesting. 2nd equipment installed yesterday. 2nd chamber for my CR. Comissioned personally by Joe_P
  4. Curious so took the top cover off for a look. Interior of the chiller. No wonder so efficient. See the radiation fins? Anodised aluminium.
  5. OMG! My wife called me say suntec blackout as she working there but I never imagine the Nicholl highway collapse????

Joe, what p$mp is this running on?
  7. very true. My salifin tang just die die shake the cleaner shrimps off while my BT and YT loves them
  8. No conclusion yet because the artica has yet to break-in Can only tell say 2-3months later.
  9. I've tried with the lights at different height from the water surface, 3,6,9,12" and all did not make a noticeable difference! The ambient temp does make a great difference. My initial review of the 1.25hp Ti was done in Jan/Feb period when the ambient was cooling. Now is April = hot season so you can see the difference in the performance!!!!
  10. Errmm.. a side-by-side comparison will yield very interesting results. Anyone keen to setup a side-by-side comparison with my 1.25hp Ti????
  11. If you go ask those that use it, then you know that it got to tweak. Somemore your tank is 5ft? I supposed you need a large unit.
  12. the 12x turbo twist (36w) I got at $300. I think the higher the wattage the higher the flow of water then more killing power heheh.
  13. UV sterilizer. The turbo twist is by coralife, I looking for a big one like 55W if they have. If price good you can collect order and bring back and sell.
  14. You always away got time to tweak the Denitrator ???
  15. so many things to buy.... hiak... me too next step is skimmer. $$$ draining hobby.
  16. MD55 rated for 6m head. so high up? wow... I intend to just place it 2m high only with 25mm tubing. Bro Roidan, I think put on the aircon ledge then. Wow... if you go for the 1hp that means a sudden huge increase in cooling power Can breed polar bear already.
  17. exactly! you get the idea already? heheheh. I got a feeling you're getting it soon
  18. the TR/RR chillers are rated according to the cooling power instead of true compressor rating. If you follow this then this chiller is rated for 1.56hp already
  19. the hose are at the side of the chiller so if you place it sideways then no issues. Hang it on the ceiling Go for it man
  20. roidan, it's been 3 months since I last saw the TW6, I can only give you the dimension of this 1/2hp artica and you go measure your TW6. Specification: Model: DA-500B Cooling capacity: 1170W (1hp = 746W so 1170W = 1.56hp ) compressor: 0.5hp Fan Motor: 16W weight: 25kg size: 21"x14"x15"(WXDXH)
  21. The size is similar but you'll have to place the chiller in such a way that the air will travel side ways already. Beware of the noise, it won't be quiet like the TECO, reef relief cos it's a commerical chiller. But it doesn't sound like a aircraft engine
  22. I am going to source for the bracket tomorrow so will do it ASAP. Either I install myself remotely or I get contractor to do it. Alfa you wanna do it too is it? Out of sight, out of mind. Noise also "out of ear" lol. Oh yes roidan, you wanna wack it spoilt? Pass to me, confirm spoilt immediately.
