Hi Storm, I seriously do not think name calling is good here. Roidan is just pointing out that for PO4 at 5ppm it is very high, which is also time to change out the xxxphos and I do not see anything wrong in that. PO4 at that concentration is just asking for trouble only, hmm... also makes me wonder abt the power of the RSB I guess the better way is to put up some hard facts rather than getting too emotional. I've been following all the threads and I do not see in anyway Roidan has any problem with AP at all. The discussion has been to the point and based with facts.

Will be running off one beckett first and if necessary will fire up the 2nd beckett. Probably will get a MD70 from HK somewhere in July so can save some space.

I am running the MD55 on my EV-240 so thought heck switch to the beckett since same power consumption Yes it's the SK6000, had to do a special request to have the sponsor bring it in.

If the RSB was that powerful then how can the ref crash cause the main tank to almost crash? Unless it is not powerful enough to skim out those rubbish from the algae. You don't just buy a car with 600cc capacity for daily use to your office 3km away and expect to drive non-stop all the way up to Thailand once a yr right? Probably a 2 litre car also cannot it

See what I meant when I want to upgrade my skimmer in advance? With so many tangs and feeding, don't want that day to arrive where my tank will turn into a green algae forest!!!

The green algae are part of the process as your tank matures but I seriously do not believe that your tank must turn into a hair algae jungle during this process if the water parameters are kept correct. This means the use of PO4 absorbing media since day one and heavy skimming to keep the DOC levels low. Water circulation should be sufficient too so waste do not collect on the surface and LR which leads to problems later, as PO4 will stick to the LR and tank surface and when you start adding the PO4 absorbing media after the algae shows out then it is a little too late already. That is why I am upgrading to skimmer to a 4ft tall one as I increase my number of tangs. By doing so the PO4 has no chance to collect on the LR and NO3 levels can be kept low eventually while you wait for the DSB to mature. I layed a layer of mesh at 4" dept in my DSB so no sand digging creatures can disturb the bottom layer (Advise from another senior reefer). Due to this I've no connected the 2ft to this 4ft, oh yes that reminds me that my 2ft cube has been cycling for 2 months plus already. Should be ready by now.

Their 6" classify as XXL already. My salifin abt 4-5" and classified under XL wow your tank older than mine Mine also coming to 5 months next week.

AP how old is your tank?

you go check CF prices... somemore they looking for those unique not so common adult XXL tangs, even the XXL salifin tang already asking for like $300 I dare not step into CF nowadays......

Had a few patches here and there abt 3 months back an I panic. I took those affected LR out and either brush them away or for those very serious ones I soak in bleach. After that I don't see anymore on in the tank. There's some in the overflow now. Blame myself for not using xxxphos right from day 1, only used it when the tank is about one month old. PO4 already collected on the LR. Else I think my tank now algae paradise already.

I used the made in Singapore Alteco brand A+B two part Epoputty. It comes with a silver and a blue tube. I bought it at those "cheap shop" at $5. You've to mix it outside the water then you can apply them underwater and let it cure under water. Takes some practise and skills to do it nicely. Else you can use super glue gel or locite too.

that time I sold off mine at $45. Dennerle product are sort of fixed price. You won't get it lower than RRP unless you know the LFS owner well.

No terror but taking revenge I guess cos for the first few days the salifin tang go bully it. Now it's more stable in the tang and start to fight back, now the salifin has learn not to go near it. For the last few days I don't see them fighting anymore. Maybe peace for the moment.
