The said up to 1 yr in some tanks for the zeovit to show full effects is a particular tank in Germany that has been running for 11years. Too much binned nutrients to be removed, eg like PO4 that has been binned as a results of dosing kalk to solve PO4 problems etc.

My AT tear drop started to get disfigured starting alone the lateral line shortly after I started using GAC in FR. After I stopped using GAC in FR, my AT's teardrop started to slowly recover. Not sure if coincident or is it caused by the GAC, the FR could be causing the GAC to be grind into power and this could have cause the problem. You might have noticed that the overall color of my AT also gets darker. BTW my flow for in the FR is just high enuff that the GAC gets suspended. Here's some progress of the tear drop which I had posted earlier.

Carbon also absorb toxics released by corals as well as excessive trace elements. Better to use in mesh bags

If you suddenly put in a lot of GAC and if worst used in FR then the water will turn clear too quickly and this will have negative effects on your SPS. I think LPS and softies would be fine. Should be no problem adding full dose in a mesh bag and put it in the sump. Then knead the mesh bag every couple of days. Change the carbon once a month.

That is caused by too fast drop in nutrients, the GAC absorb too fast when you put it into the FR. Too efficient and it'll get exhausted too fast. Better put them in a mesh bag and throw into the sump.

For the exact cause I am not sure but what I noticed is that after a ich attack, the tear drop get disfigured leaving black dots on it. The other time my AT's tear drop gets disfigured and it's almost gone, I was ready to write off this AT. Luckily some good care and getting it to start feeding on pellets, it regain back it's teardrop. This is photo as of 18th Jul 04, see the terrible condition? Teardrop erroded along the lateral line, this I suspect caused by using Carbon in FR. This one 6th Oct 04. Big difference between the you and looks like a totally different fish right?

Your UV is brand new is it? must be some of the parts of the UV has some chemicals that affected the skimming. When I was running my UV, my skimmer skimming as usual

Overdose of zeofood will not cause the cyno to spread. You gave too little info. What's your tank size, net water volume, amount of zeolit, how long been using, etc? More info pls..... overdosing of zeofood will cause the SPS to be very light colored and if still overdose after that will cause RTN and brown slime.

Bro... sometimes the output of the CR jam and that will cause the pH in the CR chamber to crash and end up the ARM will turn into powder. Or sometimes pple use low quality stuffs and the CO2 bubbles unsteady then sometimes too much CO2 gets injected also. At the end of the day better use high quality stuffs, sometimes money cannot save one

ryz: wow mixed up over my part, I thought you are from RVHS Deepblue: I started the zeovit system on 7th Sept with 250g of zeolit. on 7th Nov 250g more was added and the final 500g added on 23rd Nov. So I am sort about 9 weeks into the the zeovit system. Was expecting to change the media in another week or two. But guess I'll have to do it this weekend. I choose to add onto the existing amount for the last two times, the reason is to slowly let the coral get used to the low nutrient to prevent RTN. I think that is important for tank like mine that has been running for some time. This time round I will be changing the full amount. I think my zeolit are already exhausted. Every time I clean my media the skimmate will increase a lot and I think it is also important to get the proper reactor and to do frequent cleaning of the media (at least once a day, recommend twice a day). Roidan: The $320-$20-$20 is mentioned by himself, I just quoted him. If he feel insulted that means he insult himself in the first place. No punk intended I know where he is coming from...... he is not happy with my comments about the use of skimmate to cycle the tank, he feels that you have to let something rot in your tank in order to do a proper cycle. Well if skimmate won't work then using live fish to cycle won't work at all.
