AP850 is an external skimmer so that's why got some parts needed to connect to the skimmer. If you have a ball valve somewhere else to control the flow then you can just get the reducer + hose adaptor and the AP850 will be like the H&S skimmer already, just plug the flexible hose in. Hmm.... I am sure H&S skimmer also need to adjust for proper flow into the skimmer too so you will need to fix your own valve. For deltec case they offer the connection kit and this already have the valve for flow adjustment, so IMO this gives a better overall package as it is just plug and play The connection kit also provide you with the blue sponge to kill bubbles if your sump design does not kill the bubbles.

Actually if you get the installation kit then it is a no brainer for installation

No problem, when the skimer arrives I'll help you get a set since the AP850 and APF600 uses the same piping/fittings.

Here's the other end of the outlet piping. Added an elbow. No sponge is used to kill micro bubbles as that is done with the baffle in the sump.

Here's the outlet side. Supposed to use D32 piping but I used the local JIS 25mm piping with some telfon tapes as I did not want to add a union or glue the outlet of the skimmer. I added a 25mm/32mm "reducer" as piping back to the sump is about 2ft long.

Here's the inlet side. These are the parts that comes with the connection kit from Deltec. My solution is to get D25 valve from Hai Cheong then reduce at the hose adaptor side instead, slightly different unless we can get the D25/D20 reducer locally. Probably needs to wait 2 weeks when we order from GF.

Go hai cheong order the D25 FIP valve with DIN end connector on one end. Then order the SCH80 end connector on the other end. On this end get a reducer to reduce to D20 (3/4") then install a hose adaptor. Use ehiem 16/22 fleixble house then dip in warm water to soften it then definately you can push it into the hose adaptor. All these less than $30.

Petmart hardware shop there don't sell DIN standard You can order from Hai Cheong. They do carry the DIN end connectors for the FIP valves but requires 1 day order in advance. If you need help let me know I need to go source the valves, fittings for my APF600 which will come in together with your AP850. You're lucky bro considering that some of us waited for quite a while for deltec to sort out the shipping stuffs.

But I didn't know that Schuran produced a needlewheel type skimmer, Schuran skimmers uses the aqua-flotor principle similar to the venturi. Didn't know where you did your research.

Basically the two skimmers are very similar, or do you need a side by side comparison? I put my APF600 against your H&S skimmer running in the same tank, let's see which skimmer stop skimming first? Since deltec is not on the list of 3 brands of skimmers that can be used on reefer's tank as mentioned by you then I expect H&S to outskim deltec? In fact I for similar sized H&S and deltec skimmers I believe both should be on par. You are comparing the price with other LFS that do not even quarantine their LS. You already agree that CF LS are better quality. Not only are they better, they are also eating and quarantine. CF is mainly into export business and even if they shut their doors and not entertain us, they will still survive. We should feel lucky that they bother to enterain us. If you feel the prices are too high for the LS then can buy from other places that the prices are more suitable for you. Definately they are not raising their prices because of shortage of supply

Very satisfied user here btw. But please don't discount any other brands of skimmer I also didn't do any research to find out what are the brands and types of skimmers can be used in our reef tank. Choice of skimmer is really depends on individual preference and budget.
