Hi Lemon, I'm not referring to rigor mortis. I've realized that due to the diff reason of death, in some case the body does feel alot stiffer than usual and it's almost immd rite after death. For such symptoms, how can it be rigor mortis! As I've experienced this before during my tank upgrade. I named such death as Sudden Death Syndrome, SDS. Swimming and feeding well one day before without display of any injuries or sickness, dead the next day. This was experienced both in holding tank n new tank and of all fishes in those conditions, only one death. Do note that I'm not referring to new fishes. Anyone else has such experience?

Some pic update... This is one of my fav shot cuz it feels like I'm taking the shoot from underwater. And a pic showing some "caves" in the reef. Sailfin Tang. One of my fav but it's the biggest in this reef.

Is the body very stiff? Not the usual stiffness when dead but super hard and straight from head to tail. Juz trying to confirm one point.

hmmm... I've got a cleaner from a decomm tank too. That guy is still doing well in mine and it's feeding both on dead fish skin, fish mucus, pellets, fresh sea food and even dead fish once in awhile. Guess there is really no hard and fast rule in keeping a fishy hobby. What was once impossible to many reefers with the diff fishes and corals are now made possible with technology, new found knowledge and shared experiences. So I think there will continue to have more "IMPOSSIBLES" turning into "IM POSSIBLE" in this hobby. Reasons why I do not remove dead fish once in a blue moon is bcuz I believed the critters within the tank need to feed on what is in the natural. Of cse if the fish is too big or there is a massive die-off, I would not be doing that. By so doing this, one need to monitor the NO3 closely during this period and I do not recommend this method for a small tank.

I've got some rics with 2-3 mouth and had not split into 2 separate pcs, instead they're juz growing bigger and changing in colours. I feel tt as long as they're growing well, whether they split anot, doesn't matters.

Most prop it's due to the sudden change of light intensity. Try to put it at a point where the light intensity is lesser. Give it some time to recover but it'll take awhile. I've got some yumas like this and managed to get some to recover but some can't.

Juz did some checks on my tank perimeters... Temp: 25.8 SG: 1.021 Salinity: 28.5 o/oo PH: 8.2 Alkalinity: 7 dKH / 125.3ppm Calcium level: 400ppm NO3: 8 mg/l (way too high, need to retake to confirm again, today.) Phosphate: 0 mg/l

Yes the one in the middle is a Majano anemone.
-
Yes, if it's cut into pcs small enuf for it's mouth, provided there are no fishes and shrimps to compete with it cuz it takes in food rather slowly.

There are alternatives to keeping successful reef tanks without spending much on the supplements (esp the expensive ones)... do regular water change (fortnightly or 20% once a month). That's what I'm doing rite now for my upgraded tank. 20% water change but for me, I'm continuing using supplements to make it slightly better. My choice is Kent Marine.

Yes I'm using a chiller. Got the union ball valve from Liang Chew along Kitchener Rd. Brand is Norika, priced at $4.50/- and $6.50/- for a 3/4" and 1" respectively.

R u referring to a brand new set or 2nd-hand? I've a old one which has a "clicking" sound after I stop using it for sometime (as in clean and kept). Was told this was something to do with the impeller but I've replaced it and still has that sound. I have another new wave-box which is in operation and there's no "clicking" sound... yet

The hybrid clowns(True Percs X Black Ocellaris) at Iwarna are adult, abt 1.5" to 2". Some has good body shape and coloration. Price is reasonable. The Black Ocellaris are juv ones. All looks healthy with nice shape and fins. -
