  1. 2 of the breeding pairs are bought abt 8 mth ago from a school of them, different location. I paired them myself. The youngest 2 are kind of like paired but not matured for breeding yet.
  2. Not sure if there are any reefers successfully raised clown fries in their main mixed reef tank? I've 2 batches of fries from another breeding pair in my main mixed reef tank for the past 3 weeks. Can see some of the fries swimming in their hide-out, tried taking a photo shot but not successful. That pair is now hatching a 3rd batch of eggs but this batch left abit only... maybe some eggs were spoilt eaten by other LS. Well If the fries can really survive and grow in the main tank... then I think this must be a record for a truly "home mixed reef tank bred clown fish". So far all that we have are reports of "farm bred" or "species only tank bred" but not in a mixed reef tank. Got to keep my fingers crossed.
  3. Managed to captured the eggs clearly on this shot. Both "dad & mum" taking care of the babies. Can even see some of the eggs with developing eyes and body.
  4. One of the breeding pair of Percula X Black Ocellaris in my sump tank. My 3 clams... also in the sump as I've been trying unsuccessfully keeping clams in my main tank with the angels.
  5. Updates... Last feeding of the Pseudocorynactis was abt 2 months ago. Observations were - 1) Reduction in size, shrank by 2/3 but from time to time size does balloon up to normal. 2) No obvious pigmentation or colour lose. 3) No fission or "splitting". Fed today and immd observations were - 1) Tentacles are as "sticky" during feeding. 2) Size balloon up abit but can see that it'll balloon up some more (over the night). 3) Only of of them were slow in taking in the cut up fresh prawn meat (soaked with marine vits).
  6. Well def not in the nature but in my previous tank, that's what happened and they host it well too. No sting marks observed for as long as that tank was up and running. Oh the Sexy shrimps that I have in my sump also can move ard them without getting harm.
  7. Not the existing 4 in the tank. 1x King, 2x Townsend and 1x whitetail pygmy (Centropyge flavicauda). I keep them since juv with corals and now they only feed on the food I gave. They do disturb the corals if I purposely place the pellets onto the corals but if it's coral food, they kind of leave them alone.
  8. Used to keep a pair of Golden-stripe Maroon clowns with them in my old tank. But now, they're kept in a compartment of my sump tank.
  9. Kind of have an orangy one and also some dark brown/maroon ones but they're not as intense now due to a low feeding regime. Think that will caused them to loose some colors too.
  10. The fat King Angel with intense coloration. The Regal Tang/Indo-Pacific Blue Tang. This photo had not been photo-shopped, so one can really see the blue color on it's body is really intense, almost the same color as the backdrop.
  11. The Black Tang that had grown fatter and it's bluish tint getting more distinct.
  12. Sometimes I really wonder if the IOSF Tang a cross between a Gem and another type of tang Anyway since I can't pay for a Gem well getting a IOSF Tang does gives me the "high"when I juz looked at it mouth area... haha
  13. Got scared and changed color mah! Anyway here u go... it's a Indian Ocean Sailfin Tang, well-fed and beautiful
  14. Juz a chk... any other reefer here keeping this spices of anemone? Will try to start another phase of them soon and post updates once done.
  15. Some new updates... Hmmm... from this pic, who can guess which fish has this pattern on it's body? , , A close-up shot of a Green Hammer coral, a Green Lumi and a Purple Tips Octos. A Leather coral, "up close and personal".
  16. Fresh seaweeds are a better choice for new or finicky tangs, that is provided one can get hold of them. The next best choice I would recommend is the Julian Sprung's Sea Veggies by Two Little Fishies.
  17. buy some fresh algae such as "purple grapes", "red bamboo" etc. Can get it from CF (regularly available) or from SeaLife (once in awhile).
  18. SeaLife has a few nice Golden Butterflies. Saw a few already eating pellets. Many beautiful Queen Angels too, healthy.
  19. Hi Divine, I've got 3 1week plus old LGF (Lady Gouldian Finch). The "Care-taker"(Society Finch as the LGF doesn't do their job) should be feeding them so far. Was told that I need to buy those special baby bird liquid food to feed them soon. If this really require or as long as the care-taker is feeding them, I shd leave them alone.
  20. Hi Terry, So you are also a bird lover? Great. Why don't you post a pic of the bird for better IDing. Since you started a bird thread, I wonder if I can piggy back on your thread and post some questions regrading the feeding of new born birdies (Lady Gouldian Finch)?
  21. Dear reefers, Wonder if any of you here signed up package with these company? It was on ST over 2 weekend already. Alot of customer had been affected, estimated to be ard 18,000 to 20,000 members. Anyone here is a member and not aware of this? Sadly... I'm one of them. Still have $4k plus of unused package... really is Ta M* De There is a FB group set up trying to get as many affect members to report this to the police and also to see what other means can be explore to take action against these un-ethical businessmen. True Spa was owned by the son of the former Chief-Justice, who is lawyer by training. They're the same group (True Group) who operates True Fitness and True Yoga. Subtle Senses is owned by Gerald Lim, awarded entrepreneur of the yr in 2007 and Health Trends which is owned by Dr Billy Hardie. For those reefers who are affected, pls join the rest in FB... under "True spa victims" can read abt the updates from the Discussions section.
  22. Bro Lemon, I would like to correct you on the treatment of using hot water... immersing a wound/ or body parts with rash/allergy to hot water is not recommended as this will only aggravate the affected area. As hot water heat up or in this case warm up the skin area thus causing blood veins in that area to expand which allows more blood to flow to and through it. This can in fact speed up the rate of the blood flow and make the rash worse. Actually applying cold treatment(cold compressed) is more appropriate for rash or any allergy and seek immd medical attention. Taking anti-histamine also helps to suppress allergy.
  23. May I sugg that u keep some cleaner shrimps in the pods area as they tend to breed easily and this might be a food source for ur horses.
  24. Well u can make a bulk order from those water supplier as they might give u a good discount. Anyway for me, I used tap water as our tap water does not have that much of heavy metal and other unwanted chemical compound. I usually keep a big bucket of water overnite for a day or 2 before I pre-mix the marine salt. I used to add de-chlorinator for any water replacement but now I switch to the former method and it works well for me. I think u shd go for a blue rather than a black background. With the blue and white lighting and when coralline algae grows on the rocks, with a blue background it does brings out the contrast of the tank better. A black one can be very dark unless u're going for breeding.
