Suggest me a begginer LPS other than bubbles
Nitro replied to angelfishlover's topic in LPS Coral forum
Yup "Prata" is scientifically known as "Scolymia", scolymia australis and scolymia vitiensis is some of it members. Can try keeping blastomussa too. Quite easy to a hardy coral. -
Weekly Update - 11th to 17th Jun 07
Nitro replied to Regal's topic in Weekly LFS Stocks Report / LFS Info Centre
Reborn... Saw a good amt of live rocks which are in good conditions. Those looking for LR, can chk it out. Not the usual ones with dying seaweeds or algae but with healthy looking weeds and algae and some with small corals attached. Didn't ask abt the price though, so u got to chk it out yourself -
It's the one that is use to attached to any power heads or outlet pipe. It works based on some gears mechanism in it, such that when water passes thru the plastic blades inside, it'll turn some gears which will than rotates the wave deflector. It's kind of easy working principles but guess there isn't much research done on the drawing board so end up produced such quality stuff lor... Anyway thinking abt it, if not much thoughts are given on the drawing board, it also explained why they can sell it between $7-$10. Only thing is it juz won't work after turning a few rounds, waste our money(even if it $10)...

1 week of cycling for tank... CAN, provided treated and matured live rocks, live sand and partially "old water" are used. THEN maybe chances of LS survival or settling in will be higher. If everything from rocks to water are new, I also dun advise to put in fishes like Mandarin, Flame Angel in the beginning. Mandarin feeds on pods most of the time, even pellets trained ones too need to have "live" food as mixture. Water temp and parameters are important too for beginners and for a new tank set-up. I only reduced my water parameters test to almost nil after my tank matured 2 yrs later. Nowadays I very much based it on fishes and corals conditions to watch the overall tank's health but I do make sure my chiller and skimmer are both working well and also regular replacement of Elimi-phos and filter wool (the ones that help absorb Nitrate, Nitrite etc.). I also do regular partial water change of 10-20%. Happy reefing

Hey Fat, thanx for the offer. Can make arrangements here first?
-
I agreed. Think whoever is responsible of bringing it in shd look into this prob. I've bought two and both are the same... turned a few rounds and then stopped until I've got to use my hand to get it moving again. Hey not cheap leh, I've bought mine for $10 each.

Didn't manage to capture it during it being eaten by the trigger. Maybe next time if got a bigger crab will be easier to capture on cam.

-
Photos of the new DYMAX 4x T-5. Had changed the tubes to D&D, 1x Pure Actinic, 1x Actinic+, 1x Mid-day & 1x Aquablue plus(white). Lights lumen deff is much higher now.

Hmkui > Since u're getting both, $10 seems good(will include delivery if it's near, if not $5 will do for self-collect) or if u've got unwanted crabs, can exchange for them instead Where do u stay? I stay at Tiong Bahru area.
-
All who had PM me, pls note that Hmkui was the first to offer for the cheatos so I'll have to keep to the rule of FCFS No offense hor. For those who missed it, dun worry cuz I do harvest them every once awhile.

Bio528 > I like your new scaping, many caves and holes for hiding and chasing ard eh. So when are u adding corals or u gonna juz keep it as FOWLR tank? Hey see alot of splashes and water droplets in your sump tank from the first few post. Have u solve that problem already? Shd keep the wooden stand as dry as possible though.
-
I've juz harvested 2x abt fist(adult) size chaetos. My chaetos are originally bought from ML almost 1+yr back. Been always throwing the harvested ones away till now as I've trimmed them to better condition, that's why now then harvest them for either a small token or for exchange. 2 bunches, one with abit of seaweeds as I've grow seaweed(plant) in my sump for feeding my Tangs.

Southpaw23 > He already apologised liao lah. Can forgive Cheers cheers! I juz bought a 4xT5 DYMAX lite set. Seems pretty cool but original tubes not as solid as those of D&D, ATI etc. Reason for changing lite set now is bcus I've noticed more colour fading from the anemones, although they're still feeding well but I'll not take any chances for them to detoriate further... must have good husbandry reposibilities too rite

Glim > A reefer who keep to his word Although it juz a small crab given to me FOC (it's to feed to my Humu Humu). Taking the trouble to make a detour on his way to work juz to pass it to me. Kudos for a real friendly reefer

Can't really see the Palawensis polyps leh... they seldom really extend out but I think it's very light blue. Will post pic if ever get a chance to capture the polyps extension.

Oracle > Thanx for the compliments but not really a great tank yet... As u can see from the pic above, the placing of the octos had burned the the coral in the back ground.
