  1. ViperR > agreed, end of the day it's the individual decision cuz it's their tank n their choice on how to best spend their monies. So I think no one shd be offended in this tread as advices have been given out of each best knowledge n have also been accepted to the best of the individual abilities. Whether these sharing had been taken n put into actions is the freedom of each one. End of the day, the reefing community shd be a friendly n forgiving one cuz reefing to all of us is meant to be a relax n chill hobby ya.
  2. Veronica > care to share ur design of the new tank? Some helpful reefers here might give good inputs for ur considerations. Since u r upgrading, it really no harm reading up, asking or looking ard for ideas n good practices to factor into ur tank design. Rem if u can afford, do go for a sump/refugium tank system which is as big as possible if u really want to take the route of "minimum water change" in this hobby. Best is volume in sump/refugium is 1:1 or 2:1 or even more as compared to the main tank. There is another system but not much ppl had try it... That is having 2/3 or 1/2 the total main tank volume being channeled into a sump/refugium allow it to be "renewed" for 6-12hrs before being pump back slowl into the main tank. Can only go into details with u in this if u really keen on such a system of filtration as it's too much to write it here.
  3. Do also take care not to do more than 30-50% water change with LS in tank if ur tank had already been stabilized for more than 1yr or more. It can do more harm that way too. Unless water change of more than 30-50% had been the norm since day one of set-up, then that shd be ok. If not I strongly advise against that ya. Also to take note not to replace all filter media/FR media etc. plus water change at one go. It's a disaster waiting to happen! Trust me, I've done that 2 time (already proven) in my yrs of reef hobby n it's a painful lesson. Dun think this is one lesson that all new reefer shd go through if possible to avoid.
  4. Hi Veronica > care to share n show some pics of the filter system u have for ur tank? Long period before doing partial water change is possible... provided one has a huge or very "superb" filtration system if not it's going to be detrimantle to all the LS in the tank. I personally do not do much water change for my mixed reef tank (2-3 times or less a yr) but I do have a refugium tank that is almost half the main tank (not the best size, will be better if the refugium can treat twice or more the total volume of the main tank though). ROF (rate if flow) is ard 10x. Even with my system n method of husbandry, I must say the corals won't or aren't really growing as well as I hope for. So do give attention to those advice given by some of the "seniors" in this forum... They meant well n I'm sure they r sharing with u some mistakes that they too had went through n wanna save u from one of those bad experiences.
  5. Those looking for Black Tang... CF has 2 show-size Black Tang with blue tinge from head to mid of the body on it's back. One is injured with a big area of skin being torn (left side) but looks like recovering (hopefully). Priced at S$1k region per pcs.
  6. It's commonly known as Hairy Crab, Teddy Bear Crab or it's scientifically known as Pilumnidae. What is the size?
  7. Selling at SGD$30/- each. Already feeding well on pellets, frozen fish food etc. Self collect with own bag, small tank or container at Depot Road (near to CMPB). Interested party pls WhatsApp or SMS @ 97437071 to arrange. Pic below is the smaller size one at 2.5-3 inches. Pic below is the bigger pcs at 3-3.5 inches.
  8. Want to repair or Want to buy... Any reefer here has the experience in repairing the MaxSpec G2-110W LED controller? My set is partially faulty after a minor overheating operation. Now there is power supply to the Blue/Purple LED group but not the White LED group. I did a check and suspect that it's somewhere along the power supply unit at the controller that had burnt or faulty. Asking for advise or help as I'm unable to pinpoint where or which electronic part supplies to the White LED grouping. If I can't reply, then I'll be looking for a 2nd hand G2-110W controller. So for those who has a G2-110W controller to spare, pls standby! Thank you.
  9. Selling this 2 tuskfish for $80/-. Interested reefer pls SMS me at 97437071. Thanks.
  10. The bigger Townsend or Blue is sold. Thanks for the interest. Other fish put up for sales are the 2 pcs of Tuskfish, juv size abt 2.5-3 inches.
  11. Sales is available. Interested reefers pls PM or contact me via mobile.
  12. No offense... I was told by LFS when I bought it 1-2 yrs ago. Unless someone has a way to confirm if not I'll juz trust the LFS. Anyway it's from a reputable and knowledgeable one so I dun think they'll risk it by anyhow categorizing them, less it's a genuine error cuz they were really juv when I bought it. From websites' photos, it's really tough spotting the difference between a Blue and a Townsend Angelfish. An adult Townsend seems to have more yellow coloration on it's face area and finages though.
  13. For those who are interested or had PMed me, pls note that there is one reefer enquirying. Pending confirmation that fish/fishes are going into a stable tank with good marine husbandary. The bigger one which is already trapped will be sold at $150/- firmed. The smaller one is pending until it can be trap. Correction to some of my info... Bigger pcs is abt 4 inches and smaller one is abt 3 inches. Beginners and amateurs hobbyist, kindly refrain from purchasing these 2 pcs. Apologies if I have offended any reefers with this request ya. Angelfishes are prone to pick n nip on corals both hard and soft types. They can also be aggressive towards other angelfishes, however this really differs from each individual depending on their previous environment. Townsend angelfish are known as a natural crossbreed between the Queen and Blue Angelfish.
  14. Decided not to put them up for adoption (sorry guys to those who had PMed me). Selling them now together at $100/- for 2 pcs. Self-collect at Depot Road, either bring your own container or transport tank. contact @ 97437071
  15. Pls see attached pics. Selling 2 pcs (abt 2-3 inches in size) together for $300/-. Already kept for 1-2yrs and feeding on NewLife Spectrum n Dainichi pellets. Self-collect at Depot Road, either bring your own container/transport tank. 2nd fish (smaller in size) is not capture yet as it's not easy to catch them by trapping method. Did not want to net directly from tank to prevent injuries to the fishes. contact @ 97437071
