i would say probably due to brand. im sure madpet'z AC should not have any phosphate leaking out. since it is being used as a RODI's pre-filter. i personally use rowacarbon as my AC choice.

a few octo, hammer, elegance & frogspawn here and there will definitely add some color to your tank!

Cant see pic but does sounds like stomatella which are absolutely harmless and is actually benificial to your system as they clean up algae. I have tons in my tank!
