As above, im upgrading my 34L tank to a 48"x24"x14" shallow reef. i have some Softies and LPS, 3 small fishes and i hope to keep all of them. new tank will be using carib sea special grade live sand with 5lb of real live sand (carib sea oolite) at the bottom layer to seed the special grade, live rocks will be in and will dose bacterial daily. hoping to get the cycling done within 2 - 3 weeks. Meanwhile i hope to transfer my corals, liverocks and fishes inside the current tank to a smaller 1ft cube tank (bare bottom) and use back all the same equipments (filters lights etc etc) and keep it running for the next 2 - 3 weeks. Im worried because there will no longer be any sand since im using the 5lb in the small tank to seed the large one. do you guys think this is gonna work? Thanks!

Carbon should be changed monthly.

i guess removing them slowly day by day or week by week would be more ideal?

yes indeed, but micron filter are easier to clean and trap less detritus compared to a thick filter wool.

Gonna decom my tank next week so clearing some ramaining coral frags! Do note that my par38 spoilt so im back to using the beamswork 6x3w LED which dosn't give the nice pop my par38 provided.. if you have a much better lighting, im sure the zoas will look better in your tank. Thanks, the 170w will have better spread probably due to it being optics-less.. wah 2ft depth running full power SPS bleach.. my 36cm is almost half as short.. i can probably run 80% and hang higher to cover 4x2ft. Forgot to mentioned that tank will be LPS and Softies tank, but will have some SPS in the middle centre area.. definitely not the corners.

my 34L tank have to top up 1 - 1.5L Everyday. and even with a fan running, temp is at 28 - 29C due to recent hot weather..

im setting up a 120x60x36cm tank soon and i just bought a g2 170W. However, im thinking of a 160w 16k Razor now.. will be hanging the light.. what do u guys think of the razor able to cover 48x24" all the way to both sides? i can hang higher due to my height is only 36cm.

wondering if its safe to use? what kind of precaution should we do when we buy dead rocks?

Final update! Recently i aciddentally dropped part of the par 38 while doing maintenance and it blew.. so i was back to the beamswork 6x3w.. No plans to get the par38 anymore since i'll be setting up my new tank in 1 weeks time and corals should go back in new tank after cycling 2 - 3 weeks.. will still keep this tank up and running till new tank finish cycling. Been busy with clearing of old tank and preparing of new tank.. forgot to take out the cheapo carbon which i placed in weeks before to absorb ammonia..
