  2. updates on water parameters : SG 1.025 ( Refractometer) Taken with API : Ammonia : 0 Nitrite : 0 pH : 8.2 taken with Salifert : nitrate : 1ppm ( low range reading method) Phosphate : 0 Calcium : 400 mg : 1400 Alk : 7.8 few days ago nitrate was around 2.5.. after adding Chaeto and running reserve lighting cycle.. seems like it helped to reduce my nitrate.. Ca and Alk seems a little low.. got to start dosing 2 parts.
  3. i've been reading up and understand that fuel and genesis are for nutrients reduction (No3/po4) and plus and acid are for coral food. im currently already running rowaphos.. would be interested to know the price of all 4 bottles so i can calculate if its cheaper to get another reactor + biopellets or simply just doing polylab series.. any one can pm me the price? Thanks! edit : found out the price already.
  4. which polyplab you used? or u used the whole series?
  5. I agree with distilled. Get a Di unit 2nd hand if u can't afford ro/Di. They are good enough and a resin refill can last a long time for a 14g nano. I sincerely hope you re home your naso tang.
  6. If I want to reduce nitrate but don't want to use bio pellets. Are polylab series a good replacement?
  7. apart from not cycling your tank, you have too many fishes. i would only recommand 3 - 4 fishes in your 14G.. and most importantly, the triggerfish and naso tank are simply too big for your tank.. hopefully you'll remove them ASAP..
  8. i agree with madpetz! they display some sample stuff for you to try out which is something seldom LFS do! price reasonable too. Clementi blk 328 although a freshwater shop, carries some marine stuff like wavemakers, salt and test kits too. their price are one of the best around.
  9. i have a deltec MCE 600. ran for 4 days in a new set up with 4 fishes, some LPS and softies in a 280L~ set up. this gave me very dark green skimmate (close to black) in just 4 days. very good performance HOB skimmer.
  10. Thanks! hahaha DIY frag rack! Thanks bro i love it too! Thanks! yeah man im trying hard to slow down haha.. forgot to update about the skimmer, for the past 3 - 4 days i've turned it on again and still playing around with the tuning. after 3 - 4 days of dry skimming, managed to get a very dark green skimmate (smells really weird though..). I must say the deltec MCE 600 skimmer is really good!
  11. Thank you! I'll measure and get back to you later on.. But its one of the thinnest overflow box i've seen.. but the intake box is larger then normal overflow box too. Thanks! i bought them because they look so cute! they literally made my brownish live rocks purple again. Thanks bro, i love it too! Thanks! Thanks.. do remember to post.. going shallow too? actually im starting to find i may have too much rocks.. yes. currently diatom bloom which is normal for new set up.
  12. Update: new corals addition.. corals and fishes are doing very well.. been doing Microbe-lift Nite-out II daily and also Red Sea Reef Energy A & B (2.5ml daily). probably will give grotech line a try after my red sea finishes. 13. maybe you can share more of your set up? does your set up comes with sump? i assume it does not since you're asking about HOB.. can get the Bubble Magus E3 HOB skimmer. one of the best HOB around.. if got extra cash can consider deltec MCE series.
  14. C if im not wrong is for you to drain your skimmate out if you don't wish to remove the skimmer cup to clean.
  15. Thanks for your reply bro. i just got a small frag of SPS free from a nice reefer when i bought his LPS.. right now PE is good.. hopefully color will stay.
  16. sure. SMS me at 9106934 if you still have it. thanks!
  17. As above, would like to know if polyp extension is good on a SPS frag does it means its healthy? What if a case of good PE but color turn brown? what does this means? Thanks.
  18. IMO i think a single or 2 small head hammer will do just fine.. during the last 2 weeks of my 34L nano, i was so busy with setting up my big tank, i didn't do much WC nor did i clean the algae off the tank. water got pretty dirty for sure.. Hammer still continue to thrive and doing great in my big tank now..
  19. i kept a hermit and it kept on knocking down my coral frags! very irritating..
  20. IMO, Zoanthids, Hammer, elegance, frogspawn and bubble corals are pretty easy coral. but probably only zoanthids can fit TS's tank well..
  21. don't get the beamswork if you got extra cash to spend.. IMO too white though its able to grow corals. maybe can get those Par38s if razor is too expensive
  22. remember to take out and wash your HOB once every 1 - 2 weeks... i once forgot to wash and my nitrate went up to 10+.. after washing it gradually dropped to 5~ and the HOB was really dirty! the biohome and other media inside was trapping alot of detritus.
