Do you still need Skimmer with Clarisea?

You have a relatively low fish bioload for your tank size, ur curve 7 should work better as well! -
Do you still need Skimmer with Clarisea?

i would never run a reef tank without skimmer. As much as there is debate that you don't need one to have a successful reef tank, having one helps ALOT in making your reef tank successful. -

Day 64. Water parameters measured today: No3: <1 ppm Po4: 0.050 - 0.010 ppm kH: 8.6dKh Ca: 450ppm Mg: 1200ppm Potassium 380ppm Tank is 2 months old and 4 weeks into the fallow period, and pods are exploding in astronomical numbers because of it! i also fed Red Sea AB+ and reef roids daily for the past 1 weeks along with 2x frozen mysis feeding for my LPS to see how well NoPox reduces Po4. As you can see, No3 remains below 1ppm while po4 had steadily rised to 0.01ppm, seems like i NoPox alone will not reduce much po4. I had placed some AF Phosphate minus in a bag in my overflow chamber. Managed to squeeze out some space in my room for a 28L QT tank, its smaller than what i want as a QT but i have to make do for now. Got a pair of Snowflake clown and a YT couple days ago. They will go through a full 30 days QT with cupramine + Prazi treatment before going into my main tank. The clowns are really pretty! Got myself a RBTA a week ago, interestingly, it was an 'offspring' of the RBTA i used to sell years ago. Thanks to a reefer bro here who sold it to me! Some new LPS very luminous green acan. Red goniopora Top down shot of my LPS and zoas Here's some comparison shot of the SPS growth in a span of 2 weeks. Top being 2 weeks ago, bottom is taken today. Getting pretty good growth now with a alk consumption of 0.3dkh daily. I also fragged some of the SPS hoping to induce braching growth in them. Sky blue staghorn Miyaigi Tort Red Millie Red planet millie Cookie Monster acropora Yongei Rainbow stag I will end this post with an update of my UAS. There's better growth after switching to a 12 hours reverse light cycle. But probably will take some time to get it really going espcially when i have no fish now. Thanks for viewing! -
Just get a chiller, in the long term, you'll end up saving alot (in terms of fish/corals). The amount of money poured into fishes and corals are significantly higher than a 2nd hand chiller.
-
You don't need a 4 head fan, a single head small fan will acheieve the same temperature but significantly reduce ur evaporation.
-
some lps might tolerate, but i would say 27.5c is the max for SPS. i keep my tank 26 - 27c
-
Not sure about other tank maker, but N30 and atlantic glass industry both told me 422 rimless minimum 15mm. Unless you do 120x60x45 (h) cm, den 12mm may be possible.
-
10mm is a big nono, 422 braced would be 12mm, rimless you'll likely need 15mm.

Its about $50 including shipping, if you search UAS or ATS on taobao, you should see a thumbnail of this UAS on the first page. There's also 3 model and the one i bought is the mid-sized one. Thank you! Thanks bro! -
Looking good and glad to see your tank stablised very well in the end. What method are you using to chillt he tank? don't see any fan nor chiller used. This may not be something u want to hear, but a pair of clown should be the only fishes in the tank.

I think still too early to tell. I've just swapped from 24 hours lighting period to 12 hours on reserve light cycle. Here's a pic of how it looks like now. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app -

Thanks for the reminder, guess i missed out posting the FTS! There's some growth in the UAS but not much, probably because there's not much nutrients in the first place. Will take a pic later! -
My powder black tang today suddenly died

Pretty sure that was velvet, all the fishes in your tank are now susceptible to it and yes, they kill extremely fast. In most cases, when you can see the velvety dust on the body, its usually too late to cure the fish. Copper is an effective cure for velvet but you'll need to catch all your fishes out and treat them separately if you have corals in you tank. Leave your display tank fallow for 6 weeks which is the typical life cycle period for velvet. Leaving it empty for 3 months would definitely be ideal if you can wait! -
Hi reefers, looking for a nice red RBTA! prefer to deal north or east side. please pm me if you have 1 for sale!

Day 53 Showcasing old and trusty Deltec SC1350 skimmer, previously i bought the BM Z7 but wasn't really skimming much.. not sure if it was due to being too over sized or the design is not ideal. Swapped to this deltec and although its a llittle noisy, check out the skimmate while i have 0 fishes! I believe this is the reason why i'm getting 1ppm nitrate now combined with NoPox dosing. Sharing this acrylic container i got from Daiso, fits my phone and i can snap pic and enjoy top down view without turning off my pumps. Some shots taken with the phone laying flat on the container. Classic miyagi tort Very interesting tiny frag.. greenish base with deep purple polyps.. rainbow acro, really hope the color can hold! Thanks for viewing! -
WTB: Seachem Cupramine & Salifert Copper test kit
Evolutionz replied to Evolutionz's topic in Sell off/Pasar Malam Shop
found! thread closed, thanks. -
Seachem prime or any other reducing agent will reduce the safe copper form into the toxic form. i suggest you run activated carbon ASAP.
-
It wouldn't be a shock if the chiller chilled the tank down as per normal (which is over a couple of hours), more likely like what daveyy mentioned, residue from the chiller internal pipes were flushed into your tank. try running some activated carbon in a bag in a high flow area of your sump.
-
Wrong place to post so it may be shifted.. u mentioned that you installed a chiller? Could it have malfunctioned and chilled your tank down too much?

Day 49 Tank is coming to 2 months old and parameters are getting more stable day by day. What confused me was nitrate was still 50ppm a week before but suddenly dropped to 2.5ppm today. I was vinegar dosing but switched to 1ML of Red Sea NOPOX just 2 days ago. Corals still looking good but i am feeding Reef Energy AB+ daily (5ml) and occasionally Reef Roids to maintain some nutrients in the water since i do not have fishes yet. Water parameters: pH: 8.2 No3: 2.5ppm Po4: 0.025-0.05ppm kH: 8.3dkH Calcium: 480ppm Mg: 1200ppm Potassium: 390ppm Some new addition of SPS over the past few days. Red Planet, Tri-color Staghorn and Miyagi Tort Feels like im stocking up too fast! Top to bottom, left to right: Red Millipora Unknown ID aussie acro Pink salmon Digitata Bi-color Staghorn Pink birdnest Bali green slimer Blue dragon Setosa Bi-color staghorn Top down view, photo taken with Blues/Royal Blues/UV at 60%, white at 25%, red/green at 12%. I'm slowly ramping up my LED at 5% a week in order not to shock the SPS or grow too much algae. Showing some love to LPS and zoas as well! I will stop stocking up on SPS for now (i hope!) to see if they are able to retain their color! And its 3 more weeks before my 6 week fallow period ends. Thanks for viewing! -
Welcome back! Awesome colonies you have there, care to share more on the system you are using and lighting choice?
