That rack is definitely a no go for 1 tank, let alone 3.

The general consensus is not to dose anything you cant test for. Potassium is something which can be tested and quite accurately for, and iodine can be tested but generally very inaccurate. Tropic Marin's CEO Lou Ekus mentioned before that a reef tank below 1 year old need not worry about trace dosing which i agree, generally new reef tank has more than enough trace and with a lower coral load, don't have to worry about those depleting. Once hitting the 1 year mark, it could be beneficial to do an ICP test to figure out what needs to be replenished. But if you have been doing regular water change with a good salt, i don't expect any trace (maybe except potassium) to be depleted unless you have a wall-to-wall SPS tank.

EvolutionZ's Red Sea Reefer 170 tank build

Congrats on your new light! The fan turns on and off automatically. i run both of mine at around 60% and the fans don't really run at all. -
Another thing to take note, having a rimless tank so near electrical appliance is not ideal.. There's alot more salt spray than you might expect.

Otherwise u can look up BRS on youtube, they did a in-depth review of the orphek recently and that should give you a rough idea on mounting height and PAR levels.

It really depends, some think of it as snake oil while some swears by it. I personally hook up Microbelift special blend to my dosing pump and dose 5ml into my 170L tank everyday. It has helped me fight of dino/cyano without me doing anything else.
-
give it a bath in vinegar, the oil present in the brand new skimmer is probably what is causing that.
-
i think i'll leave it running until my tank is fully stock and i don't expect to add anymore fishes. I will then dry out all equipments/media used and will not used them in my display tank. just keep it incase you need to restart your QT again.
-
Potassium nitrate are increasingly hard to find because the powder/high concentration form is banned in Singapore, i believe you can dose Calcium Nitrate instead and fertilizer grade can be found in nursery shops like LushGro. Not sure if these are good enough grade to be dose in the reef tank though.
-
Oh that was because that qt is in my room, with ac at night water will drop to 25c and back up to 30c in the day time. Which is why I had a heater inside. Had since remove it after realising that the cover that came with the tank actually kept the tank very constant at 27-28c throughout the day.

According to seachem, the prime/safe stays active for only 48 hours max, so the water is safe to mix with copper after that. But i personally will not use it, who knows one day you might forget how long you have 'aged' the water and used it while the prime/safe is still active..

i run a dolphin Hang on back filter with some Sera Siphorax. Nitrate is there simply because the bacteria in the media is doing its work to convert ammonia to nitrates, at the bare minimum, you should have sponge filters. I had a YT and a pair of clowns in that small QT which means its bioload is very high, coupled with nutritional feeding, its normal for nitrates to sky rocket. But like i mentioned, high nitrates do not generally bother fishes until it exceeds extremely high level ( i would assume above 100ppm).
-
i do 20% twice a week on that small QT. Nitrates were pretty high at about 40ppm but it dosn't really bother the fish. I make new saltwater when doing water change to ensure there is no cross contamination. But i don't see a reason why you cannot use water from your tank IF you are certain that tank is 100% parasite free. I just use new saltwater as a precaution and for such small water volume it dosn't cost much anyway. Also, do use RODI/DI water for the QT as anti-chlorines like seachem prime/safe will reduce copper to a very toxic level.
