Possible Ich in first week cycling
Evolutionz replied to nanoteef20g's topic in Disease treatment/parasite/pest control
Should work, i would make sure to bleach everything to make sure its 100% sterilized and leave it to dry entirely. -

There are many ways to tell, visually ich looks like salt. If there's too many white spots to count, its probably velvet. Fishes with ich will also scratch the rocks to try and get rid of it. -

That was a typo, i meant to say 76 days! I like to refer to humble.fish for fish diseases and possible treatment. Ideally all the ich would've died after a couple weeks without a host, but a few studies have shown that some strain can survive up to 76 days. Hence, the recommended fallow period. -

If its indeed ich, you will have to leave the tank fallow for 86 days to starve the ich out. There's no certain the ich will be gone even if you restart the cycling. -
Optimally, outside with a good clearance both front and back. Chiller placed inside cabinet even with airflow cut outs will definitely suffer some efficiency loss.

Good old Deltec skimmer for sale. Good condition and works like a charm producing black skimmate. Selling because changed to a small skimmer as this unit is overpowered for my tank. Letting go cheap at $120. Collection at woodlands, whatsapp me at 910six393four. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

About 3.5", with me for about 3 months. Completed full set of quarantine (copper power + metronidazole + praziquintel) in QT for a month before going into my reef. So 0 risk of parasites. Super greedy and feeds on nori, pellets and mysis shrimps readily. Already caught out and in breeding box now. Selling because it is picking on my purple tang constantly. Letting go at $70, FCFS so as to not stress it out too much. WhatsApp me at 910six393four, collection at woodlands. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

EvolutionZ's Red Sea Reefer 170 tank build
Evolutionz replied to Evolutionz's topic in Members Tank & Specs
Day 119. Tank is 4 months old! Tank is doing well but po4 shot up after i tried to pump up my skinny yellow tang! All the time while nitrate remained at 0, so there's some nutrients inbalance right now. Took apart the previous UAS led that blew and thermal glued the heatsink to the new LED, now its dissipating heat much better! 2 weeks worth of growth! Also dosing 2 ppm of nitrate daily right now in an attempt to raise nitrate in my tank. A couple new frags from Pinnacles, let's see how it colors up New clams! Rescued a dying sun coral from a fellow reefer, currently soaking in a cube of mysis for 30mins daily. Hopefully it will bounce back. -

Thanks! Man the wait is long! Thanks bro, it didnt behave for long! It started walking around a week ago out of a sudden. So i sold it away sadly. -
Definitely flukes! Eiho Prazigold should eliminate this pretty well and also safe to dose in a reef tank. infact i overdosed mine by 125% and none of my corals had any adverse effect. Remember to do a round 2 treatment on day 7 or 8 to catch any eggs that were not killed on day 1.

Skimmer and Pump Questions
Evolutionz replied to Maverick77's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
IMO, a stable reef tank should have no issue without a skimmer for days if you have one that broke down. Unlike a chiller/return pump/wavemakers, skimmers are not the heart of the system. You might face an elevated nutrients level without skimming for days but that's about it. -
Looking good!!! lots of gems!

Is a wavemaker required?
Evolutionz replied to keirra1988's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Don't think will be too strong, you can always set at the lowest setting since its controllable. Also pulse mode tend to be more 'gentle' on corals rather than straight on standard mode. -

a small RW-4/OW-4/SLW-10 wavemaker from jebao should work well in your tank. -
Did you managed to test your PAR with these Orphek bars?
