  1. my mom really likes the blue tang and i really likes the yellow tang. i've seen many 30g,40g,50 keeping small juv tang, do they grow so fast that they will outgrow my tank within a couple of months?
  2. Hey guys, first time posting in reef fishes forum.. i've been keeping a 1ft cube for couple of months now and im upgrading my tank soon to a 90x60x36cm (50 gallon). sump will be a 14 gallon tank with MCE600 skimmer, biopellet, rowaphos and probably ATS or cheato. will do 10% WC weekly as well. i've no idea how many fishes i can keep in this tank but here's an idea of what i want to keep : 1 - Mandarin Dragonet 1 - Hector's goby 1 - Bi-color blenny 1 - Yasha Goby with Randall's Pistol pair. 1 - Hippo blue tang (1 - 1.5") 1 - Yellow tang (1 - 1.5") 2 - Clarkii Clownfish 1 - Kaudern's Cardinal total of 9 fishes, which i believe will be too much for my tank espcially the hippo blue tang and yellow tang. therefore im hoping to get them small.. Do they grow fast? the rest of the fishes i believe will be fine since they remain rather small.
  3. i've 4 frags, 2 BN and 1 monti doing well, 1 BN STN till half the frag gone, trimmed and polyp starting to extend..
  4. nice scape! like the way you managed to rest the rocks only on certain points so no dead spots..
  5. very interesting DIY IOS and ATS too!
  6. Used to be 27c.but lately the weather has been really hot. Tank should be 28-29c noww. Corals seems fine.. Even sps PE still ok.
  7. Jebao said the sensor is meant for lower lighting tank. If u use strong leds. Ur sensor will spoil and it's not covered under warranty.. Fish street sells the sensor for a dollar
  8. looking great! one reason i don't like cleaner shrimp, get bigs really quickly.. and they look like cockroaches when big lol
  9. lovely blue tang! see until neck pain.. hahhahaha
  10. bump!!!! need to clear ASAP parents complaining taking up space liao!
  11. from what i understand, most test kit/tester are poor in detecting very low level of po4, even hanna checker is not accurate. not sure how true because i do not have one.
  12. As above, DELightings 4x39watt T5 Retrofit 3ft light set. 2 ATI AquaBlue and 2 ATI BluePlus mounted (6months old) 1 new ATI Purple plus throw in for u condition : 8/10 the reflectors need to be cleaned since theres salt spray, as for the top part, theres some slight rust on the metal housing. other than that very good condition. 2 plugs each controlling 2 tubes. This light set retails at $400 WITHOUT tubes. Letting this got at ONLY $150 with 5 tubes included! Or 1 - to - 1 trade with Maxspect G2 110w LED. SMS me at 9106-3934 Self collect only at woodlands dr 72 Thanks.
  13. Some might be interested in this.. i always fill up a tank with red sea coral pro and mix the salt with a pump inside with DI water. i do WC every 2 days so this will help me change water with ease.. After one week of constant circulating with a pump. Heres the salt read : (taken with salifert test kit) MG : 1440 Ca : 460 pH : 7.8 kH :5.6 no3 : 2 po4 : 0 No idea why kH and pH went down.. i tested no3 of freshly mixed salt before and it was 0, turns out to be 2 after a week of cycling.
  14. woah seems perfect for my tank! and the wave looks awesome.. looks much smaller than the wp40 too!
  15. my mohawk zoas spreaded from 2 polyps to 6 polyps in 2months + time, my stardust frag from 1 polyp to 4 now in the same time. smaller polyp zoas seems to grow much slower.. got a frag of unkown small polyp zoa only grew 2 new polyps.
  16. woah, luckily i read this.. guess will have to find some sort of netting that can be fitted in my overflow box and yet will not clog due to detritus.. maybe egg crates?
  17. From what i understand : This wavemaker can run at 4300l/hr to over 10k per hour. if you want to use the wavemode, for smaller tank, it will definitely be too powerful and since wp-25 is not out yet. what many people overseas did is to swap the exisiting 24V adpater, to a 12V adapter. Some buy universal variable adapters that can switch from 15 all the way to 24Vs, which is better since u can decided how fast you want the flow. That being said, if i run 4300l/hr on 24v, i should get 2150l/hr on a 12v adapter. Correct me if im wrong.. haven't bought the wavemaker and adapter yet.
  18. IMO, i think 10mm is fine. go for 12mm if you want to play safe. make sure you cabinet can handle the thick glass, heavy water + heavy rocks/sands and also your sump tank. Overflow box got a few brand, mainly Skimz and reef octopus.. can DIY using PVC tubes too.
  19. how about spreading sidewards? im thinking if they grow downwards they may be blocked by the top thats why they chose not to spread anymore?
  20. is there still alot of space on the rock it was growing? i noticed zoas that has fully grown covering most parts of the rock, will stop growing. Whereas those that still got space to spread sidewards will continue to do so.
  21. What about chillers like teco and artica?
  22. It's a mixed Reef tank. Most likely I'll go for Carib sea dry aragonite sugar size. Bottom layer I use my old live sand from my current reef to seed the sand. So its real life sand.
