  1. Bro James, got a few questions... how much is it? Needs FR? Which LFS sells it? I am open to trying new products recommended here...
  2. Its really not easy to do a nice scape for a 3-side view tank. Kudos to those who are able to do so, u guys are creative and talented. Very often, when i scape it nicely from one angle, the opposite side looks bad. After many many many attempts at rock-scaping, think i will settle for this scape. Guys, any comments? All comments are welcome and would appreciate constructive criticism.
  3. Yes, i know ah beng do sell dry rocks. However, mine was live rocks. Took it out to sun, scrub, and run in ro/di water with phosguard. Wanted to buy dry rocks at first, but hard to find suitable shapes and sizes. And since i already have live rocks in my existing 4 footer, might as well use it.
  4. Woah... sorry to hear that. At least u got it out. Moving forward, no matter what, i think i will choose dry rock instead of live rock. While cleaning the live rocks, i realised that there are just too much nonsense in it. No point risking it...
  5. Alkaline water might upset the PH stability of your tank. Afterall, PH indicates how acidic or alkaline water is.
  6. As mentioned in my earlier post, I will be using dry rocks this time round. Had enough of pesky hitchhikers previously in my 4 footer. Will be using my existing rocks plus some other newly procured ones as well. First up... I left them out in the sun for a week before scrubbing them and soaking them in RO/DI water with phosguard running. I will not be using everything you see here. Got to realise that after sunning them, the rocks whitened up even before scrubbing. Interesting... Nonetheless, they are still dirty like once you start the scrubbing. WARNING!!! Only do this when your mum/wife/gf/etc... are not at home. After that faster clean up and claim credit for washing the toilet The entire process took awhile and I am shock to find so many of these... at least more than 10... Even saw 1 ate my cleaner shrimp in my 4 footer previously. 1 huge MotherF***** Glad that i chose to go with dry rocks after seeing these, not to mentioned the countless types of worms i came across as well.
  7. No wonder it clouds up so bad... anyway, dont worry, I am sure it will clear up. But it will take longer for this case. Just be patient... If not you can try changing water a couple of times.
  8. How did you actually add the sand? You pour it straight into the tank of water?
  9. Gyre Riptide wavemaker + 2 Jebao DC 9000 return pumps. Leak test for tank completed and will tune the flow down in actual, this is just to test water only.
  10. Hi bro, I will use dry rock instead of live rock. Will 'cook' live rock and sun it before using. I had bad experience with live rock in the past and i wanna control what i put into my tank this time. Any concerns?
  11. Wavemaker I was playing around with the Gyre Riptide Wavemaker whilst filling up the tank for a leak test. I have to say I am impress with it... Needless to say, I would not be running it so high up the water surface. Was just messing around to test it
  12. Leak test commenced. Using 2 x Jebao DC 9000 (will T-off to ATS and FR eventually). Flow seemed good...
  13. Manage to rough the screen mesh for ATS. Hopefully its good enough to hold some decent amount of algae.
  14. Its true, the setting up part is the memorable part. Cant wait to see your new set up bro... need any help can always PM me. We're all here to help this reefing community grow and learn. Still a long road ahead for myself, lots to learn.
  15. Hi reefers, hope everyone's week was good. Anyway, whilst messing with my rockscaping plan, i manage to do up my ATS since my lights have arrived. Its gonna be a down-flow ATS Step 1: Draw a straight line along PVC pipe Step 2: Cut a slit (+/- 3mm) along the line with a rotary tool and insert screen (mesh) Step 3: Ensure screen fits (loosely and never snugly). Step 4: Glue on pipe connector Step 5: Glue on end cap of PVC pipe Lastly, remember to rough up the screen. I simply used a saw to scrape over it in different angles and directions until it is rough. The picture beneath is prior to this process and still not roughed up yet.
  16. Why didnt use red colour? I heard its good for ATS and saw videos of awesome harvest from red with blue led.
  17. I knew this is gonna come in handy 1 day... bought long long ago while on sale before Carrefour closed down at Plaza Sing. Now I'm gonna use it to cut the slit for the ATS pipe.
  18. Bro Chris Its this... Par38 E27 LED I am not using it for my display tank. Its for my ATS.
  19. Waited 1 month for this... finally delivered. No choice and cant complain much since shipping is free. Packaging seems compact
