Peppermint shrimp is not a 100% aptasia killer. You do know that dead rocks can be alive again over time. As for crabs you can make a trap using bait and essence of chicken bottle. 99.99% effective. That 1% failure is when cleaner shrimps beat them to it

Aptasia in rocks my advice is to throw or suntan e rocks till bone dry. Suntanning your rocks dry will kill almost every living creature but for sure you'll have a peaceful sleep as crabs, bristle worms and whatever dreaded pest will be killed. No point using aptasia juice killer as upon contact they will shrink and hide. Also if the first shot of death juice ain't done properly you'll only aggravate it further and you might soon be a proud father of baby aptasia. Happy reefing

Bro all 3 methods are good way to start a new tank. I used new for my initial setup and slowly converted to DI water from doing water change. As for introduction of parasites and harmful pathogens, you cannot escape from this problem. When you add fishes or corals, pathogens n parasites will hitch hike into your tank. The only way is damage control. Also would like to advice on the usage of artificial rocks, due to the nature of it being hollow, it'll trap dead water. Thus nitrate will build up over time. So pls consider twice about using artificial rocks

Also w just raw concrete you'll need to cure the pond. There are chemicals that will affect your fishes. Another question is, during dry mths how are you going to do water top up?
