Glad to add something to the reefing community
Actually Wilson there weren't any die offs at the bottom of the cheato. What i got where burnt cheato (lightly pale green) at the top where they get the most light. The rest of the cheato were in healthy dark green colour
Desi, the box is actually placed on the sump tank and not in the sump tank. This actually creates another alternative growth for the cheato and not have unnecessary break off that will clog the return pumps or other pumps that are in the sump.
Hey Jacky so what fishes you're gonna keep, plan properly and don't go on impulse.
Always go with what you always wanted to keep when you started reefing....queen or brother earths Japanese moray eel.....very tempting le....beautiful fish
Got a bucket load of cheato to given away, can split into many many pkts....collection tmrw time after 2000hrs.
Will pack in ziplock bags, below is the link of the cheato growth
Here is an update of my cheato box or the mini refrugium. After 3 mths running it, i must say cheato growth is unbelievable.
From a fist size to a 1ft x 0.5ft x 2 inch ht cheato, it even grew to e shape of the box.

So far they ain't touching my clams and lps, you've to be cautious of the holocantus family of angels e.g King, queen, blue, rock beauty....and also the only species in it's class, regal angels.
They are known to nip and consume zoas, clams and lps
